Solat lima waktu, ganjaran solat lima puluh waktu

Hadis Anas bin Malik r.a katanya: Rasulullah s.a.w bersabda:

Aku telah didatangi Buraq. Iaitu seekor binatang yang berwarna putih, lebih besar dari keldai tetapi lebih kecil dari baghal. Ia merendahkan tubuhnya sehinggalah perut buraq tersebut mencecah bumi. Baginda bersabda lagi: Tanpa membuang masa, aku terus menungganginya sehinggalah sampai ke Baitulmuqaddis. Baginda bersabda lagi: Aku mengikatnya pada tiang masjid sebagaimana yang biasa dilakukan oleh para Nabi. Baginda bersabda lagi: Sejurus kemudian aku masuk ke dalam masjid dan mendirikan sembahyang sebanyak dua rakaat. Setelah selesai aku terus keluar, secara tiba-tiba aku didatangi dengan semangkuk arak dan semangkuk susu oleh Jibril a.s. Aku memilih susu. Lalu Jibril a.s berkata: Engkau telah memilih fitrah. Lalu Jibril a.s membawaku naik ke langit. Ketika Jibril a.s meminta agar dibukakan pintu, kedengaran suara bertanya: Siapakah engkau? Dijawabnya: Jibril. Jibril a.s ditanya lagi: Siapakah bersamamu? Jibril a.s menjawab: Muhammad. Jibril a.s ditanya lagi: Adakah dia telah diutuskan? Jibril a.s menjawab: Ya, dia telah diutuskan. Lalu dibukakan pintu kepada kami. Ketika aku bertemu dengan Nabi Adam a.s, beliau menyambutku serta mendoakan aku dengan kebaikan. Seterusnya aku dibawa naik ke langit kedua. Jibril a.s meminta supaya dibukakan pintu. Kedengaran suara bertanya lagi: Siapakah engkau? Dijawabnya: Jibril. Jibril a.s ditanya lagi: Siapakah bersamamu? Jibril a.s menjawab: Muhammad. Jibril a.s ditanya lagi: Adakah dia telah diutuskan? Jibril a.s menjawab: Ya, dia telah diutuskan. Pintu pun dibukakan kepada kami. Ketika aku bertemu dengan Isa bin Mariam dan Yahya bin Zakaria, mereka berdua menyambutku dan mendoakan aku dengan kebaikan. Aku dibawa lagi naik langit ketiga. Jibril a.s meminta supaya dibukakan pintu. Kedengaran suara bertanya lagi: Siapakah engkau? Dijawabnya: Jibril. Jibril a.s ditanya lagi: Siapakah bersamamu? Jibril a.s menjawab: Muhammad. Jibril a.s ditanya lagi: Adakah dia telah diutuskan? Jibril a.s menjawab: Ya, dia telah diutuskan. Pintu pun dibukakan kepada kami. Ketika aku bertemu dengan Nabi Yusuf a.s ternyata dia telah dikurniakan sebahagian dari keindahan. Dia terus menyambut aku dan mendoakan aku dengan kebaikan. Aku dibawa lagi naik ke langit keempat. Jibril a.s meminta supaya dibukakan pintu. Kedengaran suara bertanya lagi: Siapakah engkau? Dijawabnya: Jibril. Jibril a.s ditanya lagi: Siapakah bersamamu? Jibril a.s menjawab: Muhammad. Jibril a.s ditanya lagi: Adakah dia telah diutuskan? Jibril a.s menjawab: Ya, dia telah diutuskan. Pintu pun dibukakan kepada kami. Ketika aku bertemu dengan Nabi Idris a.s dia terus menyambutku dan mendoakan aku dengan kebaikan. Firman Allah s.w.t وَرَفَعْنَاهُ مَكَانًا عَلِيًّا Yang bermaksud: Dan kami telah mengangkat ke tempat yang tinggi darjatnya. Aku dibawa lagi naik ke langit kelima. Jibril a.s meminta supaya dibukakan pintu. Kedengaran suara bertanya lagi: Siapakah engkau? Dijawabnya: Jibril. Jibril a.s ditanya lagi: Siapakah bersamamu? Jibril a.s menjawab: Muhammad. Jibril a.s ditanya lagi: Adakah dia telah diutuskan? Jibril a.s menjawab: Ya, dia telah diutuskan. Pintu pun dibukakan kepada kami. Ketika aku bertemu dengan Nabi Harun a.s dia terus menyambutku dan mendoakan aku dengan kebaikan. Aku dibawa lagi naik ke langit keenam. Jibril a.s meminta supaya dibukakan pintu. Kedengaran suara bertanya lagi: Siapakah engkau? Dijawabnya: Jibril. Jibril a.s ditanya lagi: Siapakah bersamamu? Jibril a.s menjawab: Muhammad. Jibril a.s ditanya lagi: Adakah dia telah diutuskan? Jibril a.s menjawab: Ya, dia telah diutuskan. Pintu pun dibukakan kepada kami. Ketika aku bertemu dengan Nabi Musa a.s dia terus menyambutku dan mendoakan aku dengan kebaikan. Aku dibawa lagi naik ke langit ketujuh. Jibril a.s meminta supaya dibukakan. Kedengaran suara bertanya lagi: Siapakah engkau? Dijawabnya: Jibril. Jibril a.s ditanya lagi: Siapakah bersamamu? Jibril a.s menjawab: Muhammad. Jibril a.s ditanya lagi: Adakah dia telah diutuskan? Jibril a.s menjawab: Ya, dia telah diutuskan. Pintu pun dibukakan kepada kami. Ketika aku bertemu dengan Nabi Ibrahim a.s dia sedang berada dalam keadaan menyandar di Baitul Makmur. Keluasannya setiap hari memuatkan tujuh puluh ribu malaikat. Setelah keluar mereka tidak kembali lagi kepadanya. Kemudian aku dibawa ke Sidratul Muntaha. Daun-daunnya besar umpama telinga gajah manakala buahnya pula sebesar tempayan. Baginda bersabda: Ketika baginda merayau-rayau meninjau kejadian Allah s.w.t, baginda dapati kesemuanya aneh-aneh. Tidak seorang pun dari makhluk Allah yang mampu menggambarkan keindahannya. Lalu Allah s.w.t memberikan wahyu kepada baginda dengan mewajibkan sembahyang lima puluh waktu sehari semalam. Tatakala baginda turun dan bertemu Nabi Musa a.s, dia bertanya: Apakah yang telah difardukan oleh Tuhanmu kepada umatmu? Baginda bersabda: Sembahyang lima puluh waktu. Nabi Musa a.s berkata: Kembalilah kepada Tuhanmu, mintalah keringanan kerana umatmu tidak akan mampu melaksanakannya. Aku pernah mencuba Bani Israel dan memberitahu mereka. Baginda bersabda: Baginda kemudiannya kembali kepada Tuhan dan berkata: Wahai Tuhanku, berilah keringanan kepada umatku. Lalu Allah s.w.t mengurangkan lima waktu sembahyang dari baginda. Baginda kembali kepada Nabi Musa a.s dan berkata: Allah telah mengurangkan lima waktu sembahyang dariku. Nabi Musa a.s berkata: Umatmu masih tidak mampu melaksanakannya. Kembalilah kepada Tuhanmu, mintalah keringanan lagi. Baginda bersabda: Baginda tak henti-henti berulang-alik antara Tuhan dan Nabi Musa a.s, sehinggalah Allah s.w.t berfirman Yang bermaksud: Wahai Muhammad! Sesungguhnya aku fardukan hanyalah lima waktu sehari semalam. Setiap sembahyang fardu diganjarkan dengan sepuluh ganjaran. Oleh yang demikian, bererti lima waktu sembahyang fardu sama dengan lima puluh sembahyang fardu. Begitu juga sesiapa yang berniat, untuk melakukan kebaikan tetapi tidak melakukanya, nescaya akan dicatat baginya satu kebaikan. Jika dia melaksanakannya, maka dicatat sepuluh kebaikan baginya. Sebaliknya sesiapa yang berniat ingin melakukan kejahatan, tetapi tidak melakukannya, nescaya tidak sesuatu pun dicatat baginya. Seandainya dia melakukannya, maka dicatat sebagai satu kejahatan baginya. Baginda turun hingga sampai kepada Nabi Musa a.s, lalu aku memberitahu kepadanya. Dia masih lagi berkata: Kembalilah kepada Tuhanmu, mintalah keringanan. Baginda menyahut: Aku terlalu banyak berulang alik kepada Tuhan, sehingga menyebabkan aku malu kepada-Nya

Hadis Abdullah bin Mas'ud r.a: Diriwayatkan daripada Alqamah r.a katanya:

Aku pernah berjalan-jalan di Mina bersama Abdullah r.a. Kami bertemu dengan Othman r.a yang kemudian menghampiri Abdullah r.a. Setelah berbincang beberapa ketika, Othman r.a bertanya: Wahai Abu Abdul Rahman: Mahukah aku jodohkan kamu dengan seorang perempuan muda? Mudah-mudahan perempuan itu akan dapat mengingatkan kembali masa lampaumu yang indah. Mendengar tawaran itu Abdullah r.a menjawab: Apa yang kamu ucapkan itu adalah sejajar dengan apa yang pernah disabdakan oleh Rasulullah s.a.w kepada kami: Wahai golongan pemuda! Sesiapa di antara kamu yang telah mempunyai keupayaan iaitu zahir dan batin untuk berkahwin, maka hendaklah dia berkahwin. Sesungguhnya perkahwinan itu dapat menjaga pandangan mata dan menjaga kehormatan. Maka sesiapa yang tidak berkemampuan, hendaklah dia berpuasa kerana puasa itu dapat mengawal iaitu benteng nafsu

7 Kalimat untuk diamalkan

1. Mengucap Bismillah pada tiap-tiap hendak melakukan sesuatu.
2. Mengucap Alhamdulillah pada tiap-tiap selesai melakukan sesuatu.
3. Mengucap Astagfirullah jika lidah terselip perkataan yang tidak patut.
4. Mengucap Insya Allah jika merencanakan berbuat sesuatu di hari esok.
5. Mengucap La haula wala kuwwata illa billah jika menghadapi sesuatu tak disukai dan tak diingini.
6. Mengucap inna lillahi wa inna ilaihi rajiun jika menghadapi dan menerima musibah.
7. Mengucap La ilaha illa Allah Muhammad Rasulullah sepanjang siang dan malam sehingga tak terpisah dari lidahnya dari tafsir hanafi, mudah-mudahan ingat, walau lambat-lambat mudah-mudahan selalu, walau sambil lalu mudah-mudahan jadi bisa, karena sudah biasa.

Kelebihan Wanita Solehah

1. Doa wanita lebih maqbul dari lelaki kerana sifat penyayang yang lebih kuat dari lelaki. Ketika ditanya kepada Rasulallah SAW akan hal tersebut, jawab baginda : "Ibu lebih penyayang dari bapak dan doa orang yang penyayang tidak akan sia-sia."

2. Wanita yang solehah itu lebih baik dari 1,000 orang lelaki yang tidak soleh.

3. Seorang wanita solehah adalah lebih baik dari 70 orang wali.

4. Seorang wanita solehah adalah lebih baik dari 70 lelaki soleh.

5. Barangsiapa yang menggembirakan anak perempuannya, derajatnya seumpama orang yang senantiasa menangis kerana takutkan Allah SWT dan orang yang takutkan Allah SWT akan diharamkan api neraka ke atas tubuhnya.

6. Barang siapa yang membawa hadiah (barang makanan dari pasar ke rumah) lalu diberikan kepada keluarganya, maka pahalanya seperti bersedakah. Hendaklah mendahulukan anak perempuan dari anak lelaki. Maka barangsiapa yang menyukakan anak perempuan seolah-olah dia memerdekakan anak Nabi Ismail AS

7. Tidaklah seorang wanita yang haidh itu, kecuali haidhnya merupakan kifarah (tebusan) untuk dosa-dosanya yang telah lalu, dan apabila pada hari pertama haidhnya membaca "Alhamdulillahi'alaa Kulli Halin Wa Astaghfirullah". Segala puji bagi Allah dalam segala keadaan dan aku mohon ampun kepada Allah dari segala dosa."; maka Allah menetapkan dia bebas dari neraka dan dengan mudah melalui shiratul mustaqim yang aman dari seksa, bahkan AllahTa'ala mengangkatnya ke atas darjat, seperti darjatnya 40 orang mati syahid, apabila dia selalu berzikir kepada Allah selama haidhnya.

8. Wanita yang tinggal bersama anak-anaknya akan tinggal bersama aku (Rasulullah SAW.) di dalam syurga.

9. Barang siapa mempunyai tiga anak perempuan atau tiga saudara perempuan atau dua anak perempuan atau dua saudara perempuan, lalu dia bersikap ihsan dalam pergaulan dengan mereka dan mendidik mereka dengan penuh rasa taqwa serta bertanggung jawab, maka baginya adalah syurga.

10. Dari 'Aisyah r.ha. "Barang siapa yang diuji dengan sesuatu dari anak-anak perempuannya, lalu dia berbuat baik kepada mereka, maka merekaakan menjadi penghalang baginya dari api neraka."

11. Syurga itu di bawah telapak kaki ibu.

12. Apabila memanggil akan engkau kedua ibu bapamu, maka jawablah panggilan ibumu dahulu.
13. Wanita yang taat berkhidmat kepada suaminya akan tertutup pintu-pintu neraka dan terbuka pintu-pintu syurga. Masuklah dari mana-mana pintu yang dia kehendaki dengan tidak dihisab.

14. Wanita yang taat akan suaminya, semua ikan-ikan di laut, burung di udara, malaikat di langit, matahari dan bulan, semuanya beristighfar baginya selama mana dia taat kepada suaminya dan meredhainya. (serta menjaga sembahyang dan puasanya)

15. 'Aisyah r.ha. berkata "Aku bertanya kepada Rasulullah SAW. siapakah yang lebih besar haknya terhadap wanita ?" Jawab baginda, "Suaminya". "Siapa pula berhak terhadap lelaki ?" Jawab Rasulullah SAW. "Ibunya".

16. Seorang wanita yang apabila mengerjakan solat lima waktu, berpuasa wajib sebulan (Ramadhan), memelihara kehormatannya serta taat kepada suaminya, maka pasti akan masuk syurga dari pintu mana saja yang dia kehendaki.

17. Tiap perempuan yang menolong suaminya dalam urusan agama, maka Allah SWT memasukkan dia ke dalam syurga lebih dahulu dari suaminya (10,000 tahun).

18. Apabila seseorang perempuan mengandung janin dalam rahimnya, maka beristighfarlah para malaikat untuknya. Allah SWT mencatatkan baginya setiap hari dengan 1,000 kebaikan dan menghapuskan darinya 1,000 kejahatan.

19. Dua rakaat solat dari wanita yang hamil adalah lebih baik dari 80 rakaat solat wanita yang tidak hamil.

20. Wanita yang hamil akan dapat pahala berpuasa pada siang hari.

21. Wanita yang hamil akan dapat pahala beribadat pada malam hari.

22. Apabila seseorang perempuan mulai sakit hendak bersalin, maka Allah SWT mencatatkan baginya pahala orang yang berjihad pada jalan Allah SWT

23. Wanita yang bersalin akan mendapat pahala 70 tahun solat dan puasa dan setiap kesakitan pada satu uratnya Allah mengurniakan satu pahala haji.

24. Apabila seseorang perempuan melahirkan anak, keluarlah dia dari dosa-dosa seperti keadaan ibunya melahirkannya.

25. Sekiranya wanita mati dalam masa 40 hari selepas bersalin, dia akan dikira sebagai mati syahid.

26. Wanita yang memberi minum susu kepada anaknya dari badannya (susu badan) akan dapat satu pahala dari tiap-tiap titik susu yangdiberikannya. 27. Jika wanita menyusui anaknya sampai cukup tempoh (2 1/2 tahun), makamalaikat-malaikat di langit akan khabarkan berita bahawa syurga wajibbaginya.

28. Jika wanita memberi susu badannya kepada anaknya yang menangis, Allah akan memberi pahala satu tahun solat dan puasa.

29. Wanita yang habiskan malamnya dengan tidur yang tidak selesa kerana menjaga anaknya yang sakit akan mendapat pahala seperti membebaskan 20 orang hamba.

30. Wanita yang tidak cukup tidur pada malam hari kerana menjaga anak yang sakit akan diampunkan oleh Allah akan seluruh dosanya dan bila diahiburkan hati anaknya Allah memberi 12 tahun pahala ibadat.

31. Apabila seorang wanita mencucikan pakaian suaminya, maka Allah mencatatkan baginya seribu kebaikan, dan mengampuni dua ribu kesalahannya,bahkan segala sesuatu yang disinari sang suria akan meminta keampunan baginya, dan Allah mengangkatkannya seribu darjat untuknya.

32. Seorang wanita yang solehah lebih baik dari seribu orang lelaki yang tidak soleh, dan seorang wanita yang melayani suaminya selama seminggu, maka ditutupkan baginya tujuh pintu neraka dan dibukakan baginyalapan pintu syurga, yang dia dapat masuk dari pintu mana saja tanpa dihisab.

33. Mana-mana wanita yang menunggu suaminya hingga pulanglah ia, disapukan mukanya, dihamparkan duduknya atau menyediakan makan minumnya atau memandang ia pada suaminya atau memegang tangannya, memperelokkan hidangan padanya,memelihara anaknya atau memanfaatkan hartanya pada suaminya kerana mencari keridhaan Allah, maka disunatkan baginya akan tiap-tiap kalimah ucapannya,tiap-tiap langkahnya dan setiap pandangannya pada suaminya sebagaimana memerdekakan seorang hamba. Pada hari Qiamat kelak, Allah kurniakan Nur hingga tercengang wanita mukmin semuanya atas kurniaan rahmat
itu. Tiada seorang pun yang sampai ke mertabat itu melainkan Nabi-nabi.

34. Tidakkan putus ganjaran dari Allah kepada seorang isteri yang siang dan malamnya menggembirakan suaminya.

35. Wanita yang melihat suaminya dengan kasih sayang dan suaminya melihat isterinya dengan kasih sayang akan di pandang Allah dengan penuh rahmat.

36. Jika wanita melayan suami tanpa khianat akan mendapat pahala 12 tahun solat.

37. Wanita yang melayan dengan baik suami yang pulang ke rumah di dalam keadaan letih akan medapat pahala jihad.

38. Jika wanita memijat suami tanpa disuruh akan mendapat pahala 7 tola emas dan jika wanita memijat suami bila disuruh akan mendapat pahala tola perak.

39. Dari Hadrat Muaz ra.: Mana-mana wanita yang berdiri atas dua kakinya membakar roti untuk suaminya hingga muka dan tangannya kepanasan oleh api,maka diharamkan muka dan tangannya dari bakaran api neraka.

40. Thabit Al Banani berkata : Seorang wanita dari Bani Israel yang buta sebelah matanya sangat baik khidmatnya kepada suaminya. Apabila ia menghidangkan makanan dihadapan suaminya, dipegangnya pelita sehingga suaminya selesai makan. Pada suatu malam pelitanya kehabisan sumbu, maka diambilnya rambutnya dijadikan sumbu pelita. Pada keesokkannya matanyayang buta telah celik. Allah kurniakan keramat (kemuliaan pada perempuan itu kerana memuliakan dan menghormati suaminya).

41. Pada suatu ketika di Madinah, Rasulullah SAW. keluar mengiringi jenazah. Baginda dapati beberapa orang wanita dalam majlis itu. Baginda lalu bertanya, "Adakah kamu menyembahyangkan mayat ?" Jawab mereka,"Tidak". Sabda Baginda "Sebaiknya kamu sekalian tidak perlu ziarah dan tidak ada pahala bagi kamu. Tetapi tinggallah di rumah dan berkhidmatlah kepada suami niscaya pahalanya sama dengan ibadat-ibadat orang lelaki.

42. Wanita yang memerah susu binatang dengan "Bismillah" akan didoakanoleh binatang itu dengan doa keberkatan.

43. Wanita yang menguli tepung gandum dengan "Bismillah" , Allah akan berkahkan rezekinya.

44. Wanita yang menyapu lantai dengan berzikir akan mendapat pahala seperti meyapu lantai di Baitullah.

45. "Wahai Fatimah, untuk setiap wanita yang mengeluarkan peluh ketika membuat roti, Allah akan mejadikan 7 parit diantara dirinya dengan api neraka, jarak diantara parit itu ialah sejauh langit dan bumi."

46. "Wahai Fatimah, bagi setiap wanita yang memintal benang, Allah akan mencatatkan untuknya perbuatan baik sebanyak utus benang yang dibuat dan memadamkan seratus perbuatan jahat."

47. "Wahai Fatimah, untuk setiap wanita yang menganyam akan benang dibuatnya, Allah telah menentukan satu tempat khas untuknya di atas tahta di hari akhirat."

48. "Wahai Fatimah, bagi setiap wanita yang memintal benang dan kemudian dibuat pakaian untuk anak-anaknya maka Allah akan mencatatkan baginya ganjaran sama seperti orang yang memberi makan kepada 1000 orang lapar dan memberi pakaian kepada 1000 orang yang tidak berpakaian."

49. "Wahai Fatimah, bagi setiap wanita yang meminyakkan rambut anaknya,menyikatnya, mencuci pakaian mereka dan mencuci akan diri anaknya itu, Allah akan mencatatkan untuknya pekerjaan baik sebanyak helai rambut mereka dan memadamkan sebanyak itu pula pekerjaan jahat dan menjadikan dirinya kelihatan berseri di mata orang-orang yang memerhatikannya."

50. Sabda Nabi SAW: "Ya Fatimah barang mana wanita meminyakkan rambut dan janggut suaminya, memotong kumis (misai) dan mengerat kukunya, Allah akan memberi minum akan dia dari sungai-sungai serta diringankan Allah baginya sakaratul maut dan akan didapatinya kuburnya menjadi sebuah taman dari taman- taman syurga dan dicatatkan Allah baginya kelepasan dari api neraka dan selamatlah ia melintas Titian Shirat."

51. Jika suami mengajarkan isterinya satu masalah akan mendapat pahala 80 tahun ibadat.

52. Wanita yang menyebabkan suaminya keluar dan berjuang ke jalan Allah dan kemudian
menjaga adab rumahtangganya akan masuk syurga 500 tahun lebih awal dari suaminya, akan menjadi ketua 70,000 malaikat dan bidadari dan wanita itu akan dimandikan di dalam syurga, dan menunggu suaminya dengan menunggang kuda yang dibuat dari yakut.

53. Semua orang akan dipanggil untuk melihat wajah Allah di akhirat,tetapi Allah akan datang sendiri kepada wanita yang memberati auratnya iaitu memakai purdah di dunia ini dengan istiqamah.

54. Dunia ini adalah perhiasan dan sebaik-baik perhiasan ialah wanita (isteri) yang solehah.

55. Salah satu tanda keberkatan wanita itu ialah cepat perkahwinannya,cepat pula kehamilannya dan ringan pula maharnya (mas kahwin).

Jika seorang wanita melatih kesabarannya dengan iman dengan mengharapkan pahala dari sesuatu perkara yang menyebabkannya menjadi cemburu (iri hati), seperti misalnya suaminya menikahi istri kedua, maka ia akan menerima ganjaran seorang syahid".

10 Tips for Self-Revival

1. Take the initiative. Change is a verb. You have to first change to see the change.

"And that human can have nothing but what he does (good or bad), and that his deeds will be seen." (An-Najm 53:39-40)

"Verily never will Allah change the condition of a people until they change it themselves." (Ar-Ra'ad 13:11)

2. Don't procrastinate. Start from this moment.

The companion Abdullah Ibn Omar (Allah be pleased with him) used to say, "When the evening comes, do not wait for the morning; and when the morning comes, do not wait for the evening." - Collected by Al-Bukhari

3. Start with baby steps and achievable goals.

The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said to his companions, "Is it difficult for any of you to recite one third of the Quran in one night?" This suggestion was difficult for them so they said, "Who among us has the power to do so, O Allah's Apostle?" Allah Apostle replied, "'Allah (the) One, the Self-Sufficient Master Whom all creatures need.' (Surat Al-Ikhlas 112 verse one to the end) is equal to one third of the Quran." - Collected by Al-Bukhari

The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said, "Is one amongst you powerless to get one thousand virtues every day." Amongst those who had been sitting there, one asked, "How one amongst us can get one thousand virtues every day?" He said, "Recite sub-hana Allah " one hundred times for (by reciting them) one thousand virtues are recorded (to your credit) and one thousand vices are removed." - Collected by Muslim

4. Be consistent. A small step a day, but for everyday.

A'isha reported Allah's Messenger (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) as saying, "The acts most pleasing to Allah are those which are done continuously, even if they are small." And when A'isha did any act she did it continuously." - Collected by Muslim

5. Make sure you are changing towards the right direction.

6. Have a support group for your change.

7. Be patient.

The above three tips are mentioned in Surah Al-A'sr 103.

"By (the Token of) Time (through the Ages), Verily Man is in loss, Except such as have Faith, and do righteous deeds, and (join together) in the mutual teaching of Truth, and of Patience and Constancy." (A'sr 103)

8. Never give up. If you trip, start again

"Allah accepts only the repentance of those who do evil in ignorance and foolishness and repent soon afterwards; it is they to whom Allah will forgive and Allah is Ever AllÆKnower, AllÆWise." (An-Nisa 4:17)

9. Keep your eyes on the prize - achievement, triumphant, and satisfaction

"Verily this is the supreme achievement! For the like of this let all strive, who wish to strive." (As-Saffat 37:60-61)

10. Always ask Allah for help

Kun Fayakun...

Its been some time since i updated this blog. Last Saturday, me together with my 2 muslim brothers we went to Fort Caning for an event Organized by Madrasah Aljunied.

I must say i did somehow enjoy myself with my friends. Upon arrival to the venue, we did out magrib prayers and followed by a Solat Sunat Hajat. At roughly around 8pm, the event began with Nasyid from the Madrasah Students.

Well, something funny actually occured. My friends and i saw a carpetted empty seats infront of us, and so we decided to sit on it since it will be much more comfortable. However, as we were enjoying the Nasyid...we were shocked when we saw the President of Muis beside us.

So we reacted rapidly by moving out of the carpetted seats. We were smiling to each other because it was kind of "paiseh" that we actually sat on the VIP seats and had to be chased out by the President of Muis himself.

All in all, it was fun to have attended the event with my Friends.

Virtue Of Patience

Praise be to Allaah.

Allaah has made patience like a horse that never gets tired, an army that can never be defeated and a strong fortress that can never be breached. Patience and victory are twin brothers, for victory comes with patience, relief comes with distress and ease comes with hardship. Patience is of more help to the one who has it than men, as it helps without any need for equipment or numbers and its relationship to victory is like that of the head to the body.

In the Qur’aan, Allaah has guaranteed those who are patient that He will give them reward without measure.

He tells them that He is with them by guiding and supporting them and granting them a clear victory. Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning):

“Surely, Allaah is with those who are As‑Saabiroon (the patient)”

[al-Anfaal 6:46]

Allaah has made leadership in terms of religion conditional upon patience and certain faith, as He says (interpretation of the meaning):

“And We made from among them (Children of Israel), leaders, giving guidance under Our Command, when they were patient and used to believe with certainty in Our Ayaat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.)”

[al-Sajdah 32:34]

Allaah tells us that patience is better for those who are patient, as He says (interpretation of the meaning):

“But if you endure patiently, verily, it is better for As‑Saabiroon (the patient)”

[al-Nahl 16:126]

Allaah tells us if we are patient and pious, the plot of the enemy cannot do any harm, even if he is powerful, as He says (interpretation of the meaning):

“But if you remain patient and become Al-Muttaqoon (the pious), not the least harm will their cunning do to you. Surely, Allaah surrounds all that they do”

[Aal ‘Imraan 3:120]

Allaah tells us that the patience and piety of his Prophet Yoosuf brought him to a position of power and strength, as He says (interpretation of the meaning):

“Verily, he who fears Allaah with obedience to Him (by abstaining from sins and evil deeds, and by performing righteous good deeds), and is patient, then surely, Allaah makes not the reward of the Muhsinoon (good‑doers) to be lost”

[Yoosuf 12:90]

Allaah has connected success to patience and piety, and the believers understand that. Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning):

“O you who believe! Endure and be more patient (than your enemy), and guard your territory by stationing army units permanently at the places from where the enemy can attack you, and fear Allaah, so that you may be successful”

[Aal ‘Imraan 3:200]

Allaah tells us that He loves those who are patient, and that is the greatest encouragement. Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning):

“And Allaah loves As-Saabiroon (the patient)”

[Aal ‘Imraan 3:146]

Allaah has given glad tidings of three things to those who are patient, each of which is better than that for which the people of this world envy one another. Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning):

“but give glad tidings to As‑ Saabiroon (the patient).

156. Who, when afflicted with calamity, say: ‘Truly, to Allaah we belong and truly, to Him we shall return.’
157. They are those on whom are the Salawaat (i.e. who are blessed and will be forgiven) from their Lord, and (they are those who) receive His Mercy, and it is they who are the guided ones”

[al-Baqarah 2:155-157]

Allaah exhorts His slaves to seek help with patience and prayer when facing calamities that may befall a person. Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning):

“And seek help in patience and As-Salaah (the prayer) and truly, it is extremely heavy and hard except for Al-Khaashi‘oon [i.e. the true believers in Allaah — those who obey Allaah with full submission, fear much from His punishment, and believe in His Promise (Paradise) and in His Warnings (Hell)]”

[al-Baqarah 2:54]

Allaah states that the victory of attaining Paradise and being saved from Hell will be won only by those who are patient, as He says (interpretation of the meaning):

“Verily, I have rewarded them this Day for their patience; they are indeed the ones that are successful”

[al-Mu’minoon 23:111]

Allaah tells us that the desire to earn His reward and to turn away from this world and its adornments is attained only by those who are patient and are believers. Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning):

“But those who had been given (religious) knowledge said:

“Woe to you! The reward of Allaah (in the Hereafter) is better for those who believe and do righteous good deeds, and this none shall attain except those who are As‑Saabiroon (the patient in following the truth)”

[al-Qasas 28:80]

Allaah tells us that repelling evil with that which is better makes the evildoer become like a close friend. Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning):

“The good deed and the evil deed cannot be equal. Repel (the evil) with one which is better (i.e. Allaah orders the faithful believers to be patient at the time of anger, and to excuse those who treat them badly) then verily he, between whom and you there was enmity, (will become) as though he was a close friend”

[Fussilat 41:34]

But this is something that “none is granted it (the above quality) except those who are patient — and none is granted it except the owner of the great portion (of happiness in the Hereafter, i.e., Paradise and of a high moral character) in this world”

[Fussilat 41:35].

Allaah tells us, and reinforces it with an oath, (interpretation of the meaning):

“By Al‑‘Asr (the time).

2. Verily, man is in loss,

3. Except those who believe (in Islamic Monotheism) and do righteous good deeds, and recommend one another to the truth [i.e. order one another to perform all kinds of good deeds (Al‑Ma‘roof) which Allaah has ordained, and abstain from all kinds of sins and evil deeds (Al‑Munkar) which Allaah has forbidden], and recommend one another to patience (for the sufferings, harms, and injuries which one may encounter in Allaah’s Cause during preaching His religion of Islamic Monotheism or Jihad)”

[al-‘Asr 103]

Allaah will divide His creation into two categories: those who are on the right hand and those who are on the left hand (cf. al-Waaqi’ah 56:8ff); those who are on the right hand are those who recommend one another to patience and mercy.

Allaah has chosen the people of patience and gratitude to benefit from His signs and be distinguished by this great good fortune. He says in four places in His Book (interpretation of the meaning):

“Truly, therein are Ayaat (evidences, proofs and signs) for every patient, thankful (person)”

[Ibraahem 14:5; Luqmaan 31:31; Saba 24:19; al-Shoora 42:33]

Allaah has made forgiveness and reward conditional upon doing righteous deeds and being patient, and that is easy for the one for whom He makes it easy. Allaah says:

“Except those who show patience and do righteous good deeds: those, theirs will be forgiveness and a great reward (Paradise)”

[Hood 11:11]

Allaah tells us that patience and forgiveness are among the things recommended by Allaah and those who pay heed to this will never lose, as He says (interpretation of the meaning):

“And verily, whosoever shows patience and forgives, that would truly be from the things recommended by Allaah”

[al-Shoora 42:34]

Allaah commanded His Messenger to wait patiently for His Decision, and told him that his patience is not but from Him, and by virtue of patience all calamities become easy, as He said (interpretation of the meaning):

“So wait patiently (O Muhammad) for the Decision of your Lord, for verily, you are under Our Eyes”

[al-Toor 52:48]

And He said (interpretation of the meaning):

“And endure you patiently (O Muhammad), your patience is not but from Allaah. And grieve not over them (polytheists and pagans), and be not distressed because of what they plot.
128. Truly, Allaah is with those who fear Him (keep their duty unto Him), and those who are Muhsinoon (good‑doers)”

[al-Nahl 16:127]

Patience is the foundation of the believer’s faith which has no other foundation. The one who has no patience has no faith, and if he has any, then it is only a little faith and it is very weak, and such a person worships Allaah as it were upon the edge (i.e. in doubt): if good befalls him, he is content therewith; but if a trial befalls him he turns back on his face (i.e. reverts to disbelief after embracing Islam). He loses both this world and the Hereafter (cf. al-Hajj 22:11). All he gets from them is a losing deal.

The best life is attained by the blessed through patience, and they rise to the highest degrees through their gratitude. So they fly on the wings of patience and gratitude to gardens of delight (i.e., Paradise). That is the bounty of Allaah that He bestows upon whomsoever He will, and Allaah is the Owner of Great Bounty. End quote from ‘Uddat al-Saabireen by Ibn al-Qayyim, p. 3-5.

With regard to the ahaadeeth which speak of the virtue of patience, they include the following:

Al-Bukhaari (1496) and Muslim (1053) narrated that Abu Sa’eed al-Khudri (may Allaah be pleased with him) said: The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “…whoever is patient Allaah will bestow patience upon him, and no one is ever given anything better and more generous than patience.” And Muslim (918) narrated that Umm Salamah (may Allaah be pleased with her) said: I heard the Messenger of Allaah (S) say: “There is no Muslim who is stricken with a calamity and says what Allaah has enjoined – ‘Verily to Allaah we belong and unto Him is our return. O Allaah, reward me for my affliction and compensate me with something better’ – but Allaah will compensate him with something better.”

And Muslim (2999) narrated that Suhayb (may Allaah be pleased with him)said: The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “How wonderful is the affair of the believer, for his affairs are all good, and this applies to no one but the believer. If something good happens to him, he is thankful for it and that is good for him. If something bad happens to him, he bears it with patience and that is good for him.”

‘Umar ibn ‘Abd al-‘Azeez (may Allaah be pleased with him) said: Allaah has not bestowed any blessing upon His slaves then taken it away and replaced it with patience, but what He has compensated them with is better than what He has taken away.

Money $$$

Yesterday's work was great because i got a total sales of $1,000. Alhamdulillah.... I'm glad that i have been blessed with the rezeki and i do acknowledge the fact that if someone keep to his 5 prayers, his rezeki will be kurniakan by Allah.

On last Friday, i went to borders alone to buy a book titled, "No God But God". Its a book with a context on whether its a religion of peace or war? and many more. I have always love reading books because the knowledge i gain would be vital in life. So, every wednesday i would drop by to borders to check out any great books and perhaps buy them.

However, i think being book smart is one thing but being street smart is another. I believe that by working during weekends, it really help improved me being street smart. From experience, i know how to tell peoples body language.

For what i recently learned is the beauty of smilling.At work, i smile when talking to people and Alhamdulillah...people all over there are very friendly towards me. I'm feel really thankful to Allah.

Wednesday

Salam...

My life now is really busy and at the same time my problems never fail to be my mind. But Alhamdulillah, somehow the problems just dissapear when i perform my solat. I do fully acknowledge whatever happens in my life its all from Allah.

I'm totally tired and i miss the times when i go to the masjid everyday to perform my Isyak Prayers. InsyaAllah, i'm trying hard to get back to that lifestyle.

I don't have many friends who are Islamically Incline and i wish that i could have more. InsyaAllah...

At times, it makes me wonder why Allah gave me this feeling that i have towards this Muslim girl. I dare not say i love the girl but my love only falls to Allah and Rasulullah. I guess its the kasih sayang i have towards her.

I never ask for this feeling, somehow it came naturally and this is from Allah. "O Allah, i have no one to turn to except you and so i plead to you please don't leave me all alone even just a second"

Iman berdasarkan Ilmu.Iaitu seorang yang telah mempelajari tentang Allah,Malaikat2,Rasul2 dan Nabi,Kitab2,hari Qiamat dan lain-lain yang diwajibkan mengimaninya.Iman dan keyakinannya berasa dan kuat bertunjang pada akal.Iqtikadnya disertai dengan dalil-dalil yang kuat serta pegangan yang kukuh.Dia tidak mudah goyang atau terpengaruh dengan ideologi lain.Tetapi orang yang beriman Ilmu,tidak takut akan Allah Taala dan mudah berbuat derhaka kepada-Nya.Mereka juga hanya mampu memperkatakan Islam,tetapi tidak mampu berbuat atau mengamalkannya.jadi,Iman Ilmu belum lagi dapat menyelamatkan seseorang itu dari neraka Allah.

IMAN 'AYYAN

Hasil daripada tarbiyah dan mujahadah yang bersungguh-sungguh orang yang beriman Ilmu akan meningkat kepada Iman 'Ayyan.Imannya bertempat di hati,bukan lagi di fikiran.Hati orang-orang yang beriman 'Ayyan sentiasa mengingati Allah, ibadahnya khusyu' dan ia sentiasa merasa kebesaran Allah Taala.Pabila disebut nama Allah, gementar hatinya.Semua perintah Allah Taala dipatuhi dengan penuh rela dan kesungguhan.Ia terlalu sensitif dengan dosa serta sangat berakhlak dengan Allah dan manusia.Setiap ujian dihadapi dengan penuh sabar.Ia juga sentiasa mendapat bantuan dan pertolongan dari Allah Taala.Orang yang berada di peringkat Iman 'Ayyan tidak lama dihisab di Akhirat dan ia mudah masuk Syurga.

IMAN HAQ

Seseorang yang mencapai Iman Haq,mata hatinya melihat Allah Taala.Ertinya setiap kali melihat kejadian dan kebesaran Allah Taala,hati dan fikirannya tertumpu kepada Allah.tersa takut dan hebat kepada Allah setiap masa.Hatinya tidak lekang mengingati Allah dan sentiasa karam serta khusyu' dalam kesyahduan cinta pada Rabb.Hatinya tidak terpaut dengan dunia dan ia tidak dapat dilalaikan oleh nafsu mahupun Iblis laknatullah.Mereka yang beriman 'Ayyan digelar Muqarrobin oleh Allah Taala,yakni orang yang hampir dengan-Nya.

IMAN HAKIKAT

Inilah peringkat iman yang paling sempurna dan tertinggi yang dimiliki oleh Rasul2, Nabi2,khulafa' ar-Rasyideen serta wali-wali besar.Mereka akan ditempatkan oleh Allah Taala di dalam Syurga yang paling tinggi.Hidup mereka setiap masa asyik dangan ibadah.Ibadah mereka cukup hebat, solat sunat paling kurang 300 rakaat sehari semalam.Budi serta akhlak adalah yang terbaik dan paling terpuji.Allah Taala akan menurunkan barakah di mana sahaja mereka berada.Mereka digelar golongan 'superscale' Akhirat.Hidup dalam Syurga yang maha Indah lagi maha lazat.Allah mengurniakan yang sedemikian itu sebagai membalas cinta dan pengorbanan hakiki yang cukup besar semata-mata kerana Allah !Di manakah tahap keimanan kita ?Sama-samalah kita sentiasa memuhasabah diri serta mempertingkatkan keimanan kita dengan mengerjakan amalan kebaikan dengan bersungguh-sungguh,iltizam dan istiqomah.Berbahagialah dengan berita gembira dari Allah Taala dalam surah Ali Imran, ayat 139 :

Maksud :Janganlah kamu bersikap lemah, dan janganlah(pula) kamu bersedih hati,padahal kamulah orang-orang yang paling tinggi(darjatnya) jika kamu orang-orang yang beriman.

Solat Terawih dah fadhilahnya...

Diriwayatkan oleh Saidina Ali (r.a) daripada Rasulullah (s.a.w), sebagai jawapan dari pertanyaan sahabat-sahabat Nabi (s.a.w) tentang Fadhilat (kelebihan) Sembahyang Sunat Terawih pada bulan Ramadan.

Malam 1 :
Keluar dosa-dosa orang mukmin pada malam pertama seperti mana ia baru dilahirkan, mendapat keampunan dari Allah.

Malam 2 :
Diampunkan dosa-dosa orang mukmin yang sembahyang Terawih serta kedua ibubapanya (sekiranya mereka orang yang beriman).

Malam 3 :
Berseru malaikat di bawah Arasy supaya kami meneruskan sembahyang Terawih terus-menerus semoga Allah mengampunkan dosa engkau.

Malam 4 :
Memperoleh pahala sebagaimana pahala orang-orang yang membaca kitab-kitab Taurat , Injil, Zabur dan Al-Quran.

Malam 5 :
Allah kurniakan baginya pahala seumpama orang sembahyang di Masjidil Haram, Masjid Madinah dan Masjid Al-Aqsa.

Malam 6 :
Allah kurniakan pahala kepadanya pahala malaikat-malaikat yang tawaf di Baitul Ma'mur (70,000 malaikat sekali tawaf) serta setiap batu-batu dan tanah-tanah mendoakan supaya Allah mengampunkan dosa orang yang mengerjakan sembahyang terawih pada malam ini.

Malam 7 :
Seolah-seolah ia dapat bertemu dengan Nabi Musa serta menolong Nabi (a.s) menentang musuh ketatnya Firaun dan Hamman.

Malam 8 :
Allah mengurniakan pahala orang sembahyang Terawih seperti mana yang telah dikurniakan kepada Nabi Allah Ibrahim (a.s).

Malam 9 :
Allah kurniakan pahala dan dinaikkan mutu ibadat hambanya seperti Nabi Muhammad (s.a.w).

Malam 10 :
Allah (s.w.t) mengurniakan kepadanya kebaikan di dunia dan di akhirat.

Malam 11 :
Keluar ia daripada dunia (mati) bersih daripada dosa seperti ia baharu dilahirkan.

Malam 12 :
Datang ia pada hari Qiamat dengan muka yang bercahaya (cahaya ibadatnya)

Malam 13 :
Datang ia pada hari Qiamat dalam aman sentosa daripada tiap-tiap kejahatan dan keburukan.

Malam 14 :
Datang malaikat menyaksikan ia bersembahyang Terawih serta Allah tiada menyesatkannya pada hari Qiamat.

Malam 15 :
Semua malaikat yang menanggung Arasy, Kursi, berselawat dan mendoakannya supaya Allah mengampunkannya.

Malam 16 :
Allah (s.w.t) tuliskan baginya terlepas daripada neraka dan dimasukkan kedalam syurga.

Malam 17 :
Allah kurniakan orang yang berterawih pada malam ini sebanyak-banyak pahala Nabi-Nabi.

Malam 18 :
Seru malaikat : Hai ! Hamba Allah. Sesungguhnya Allah telah redha kepada engkau dan ibubapa engkau (yang masih hidup atau mati).

Malam 19 :
Allah (s.w.t) tinggikan darjatnya didalam syurga Firdaus.

Malam 20 :
Allah kurniakan kepadanya pahala sekelian orang yang mati syahid dan orang-orang yang solihin

Malam 21 :
Allah binakan sebuah istana di dalam syurga daripada nur .

Malam 22 :
Datang ia pada hari Qiamat aman daripada tiap-tiap dukacita dan kerisauan (tiada dalam keadaan huru-hara di Padang Mahsyar).

Malam 23 :
Allah (s.w.t) binakan kepadanya sebuah bandar di dalam syurga daripada nur

Malam 24 :
Allah buka peluang 24 doa yang mustajab bagi orang yang berterawih pada malam ini (elok sekali berdoa ketika sujud).

Malam 25 :
Allah Ta'ala angkatkan daripadanya siksa kubur.

Malam 26 :
Allah kurniakan kepada orang berterawih pahala pada malam ini seumpama 40 tahun ibadat.

Malam 27 :
Allah kurniakan orang berterawih pada malam ini ketangkasan melintas atas titian Siratul Mustaqim seperti kilat menyambar.

Malam 28 :
Allah (s.w.t) kurniakan kepadanya seribu darjat di akhirat.

Malam 29 :
Allah (s.w.t) kurniakan kepadanya pahala seribu kali Haji Mabrur

Malam 30 :
Allah (s.w.t) beri penghormatan kepada orang berterawih pada malam terakhir ini yang teristimewa sekali, lalu berfirman : " Hai hambaku, makanlah segala jenis buah-buahan yang engkau ingin makan di dalam syurga dan mandilah engkau daripada air syurga yang bernama Salsabila, serta minumlah air daripada telaga yang dikurniakan kepada Nabi Muhammad (s.a.w) yang bernama Al-Kauthar".

Salam...

Yesterday i had a chat with an online friend regarding how can i get to know more youth who are incline in Islam since for me i'm not in Madrasah school. And perhaps i can join Muslims youth group where i can meet people there. I never tried getting myself into any youth group before because i used to prefer chatting and discussing about Islam with adults rather than youth. On the other hand, i feel that it might be easier to discuss certain issues with youth comparing to adults. InsyaAllah, i will get myself involve in these groups.

Salam...

Its been some time since i updated this blog. The month of Ramadhan is just around the corner and unfortunately people are busy getting clothes for Hari Raya since the reason is because, "nanti kalau puasa nak jalan jalan susah lah... lapar, haus" This is what i feel the mentality of our malay people. InsyaAllah, with the will of Allah...people can change to be better.

I came across this article which is more to a question and answer. A muslim brother posted this question to a sheikh... may Allah reward him for this question.

Question:
What are the things that make faith decrease?

Answer:

Praise be to Allaah.

The things that make faith decrease are as follows:

1. Ignorance of the names and attributes of Allaah makes a decrease in faith inevitable, because if a man is lacking in knowledge of the names and attributes of Allaah, he will be lacking in faith.

2. Neglecting to think about the signs of Allaah in the universe and the signs of sharee’ah (i.e., verses of the Qur’aan and miracles of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him), etc.). This causes a decrease in faith or at the very least it causes it to stagnate and not grow.

3. Committing sins, because sin has a profound effect on the heart and on faith. Hence the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “The adulterer at the time when he is committing adultery is not a believer.”

4. Neglecting to do acts of worship, because neglecting to do acts of worship causes a decrease in faith. But if the act of worship is obligatory and a person neglects it with no excuse, then he is to be blamed and deserves punishment. If the act of worship is not obligatory, or it is obligatory but a person does not do it for a valid reason, then he is lacking but is not to be blamed. Hence the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) described women as lacking in reason and in religion, and he explained their lacking in religion as being because of the fact that when they menstruate, they do not pray or fast. But they are not to be blamed for not praying or fasting during their menstruation; rather they are commanded not to do these things at that time. But because they miss out on doing some of the things that men do, they are regarded as lacking in this regard.

Text messages and e-mails which say: “Forward this or else you will be sinning and such and such will happen to you”

Praise be to Allaah.

Using modern means of communication such as mobile phones and e-mail to spread advice, exhortations, reminders and guidance is a good deed, because it is possible to reach hundreds of people with one click of the button. It is well known that the one who guides others to do good is like the one who does it, and that the one who calls others to guidance will have a reward like that of those who follow him, as Muslim (2674) narrated from Abu Hurayrah (may Allaah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Whoever calls others to guidance will have a reward like that of those who follow it, without that detracting from their reward in the slightest.”

And Muslim (1893) narrated from Abu Mas’ood al-Ansaari (may Allaah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “The one who tells another about something good is like the one who does it.”

If a Muslims writes some advice about the adhkaar for morning and evening, for example, and sends it to a hundred people, and many of them follow his advice, then he will have a great reward for that.

Hence we should make use of these means of communication and raise the level of the messages that are transmitted through them, so that they will be most effective and beneficial.

But unfortunately some people mix this good deed with a bad deed, which is a kind of lying and falsehood, such as saying, “If you forward this, you will hear some good news”! This is a kind of fortune-telling. There is no shar’i evidence that the one who receives advice and passes it on to another will hear good news, rather he may hear bad news, or good news, or he may not hear anything at all.

The same applies to the one who says, “I am entrusting you with this to forward it and spread it, or else you will be sinning if you do not do that,” or “Such and such will happen to the one who does not forward it.” All of this is false and there is no basis for it. The one to whom it is sent does not have to do anything and there is nothing to oblige him to forward it, and he is not sinning if he does not do that. There is no basis for stating that someone is sinning without any proof from sharee’ah, and there is no basis for speaking of the unseen future which no one knows except Allaah.

Stating that reward or punishment will come as the result of actions done is something that must be referred to Allaah. Whatever He has permitted is what is halaal, and whatever He has forbidden is what is haraam, and reward and punishment are in His hand. Whoever says anything about that without proof is lying. Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning):

“Say (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم): ‘(But) the things that my Lord has indeed forbidden are Al‑Fawaahish (great evil sins and every kind of unlawful sexual intercourse) whether committed openly or secretly, sins (of all kinds), unrighteous oppression, joining partners (in worship) with Allaah for which He has given no authority, and saying things about Allaah of which you have no knowledge’”

[al-A’raaf 7:33]

These people think that they are making people spread good by encouraging and warning them, but they are mistaken and they are overstepping the mark. They should limit themselves to that which is mentioned in sharee’ah, which is sufficient, praise be to Allaah, such as saying: “Whoever spreads this good, there is the hope that he will have a reward like that of all those who act upon it.” That should be sufficient to encourage people to spread it.

This explains the importance of knowledge, because most of those who do this only do it because of ignorance, like those who fabricated ahaadeeth and attributed them to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) on the basis of spreading good and encouraging people to do good, but they ended up telling lies of a type for which the one who tells them is given a stern warning, but he thought that he was earning reward!

Our aim is to point out the falseness of this method and to warn people against it. Hence we say:

The one who receives any of these false messages should advise the one who sent it and explain to him that he should stop using these false incentives, and he should not believe what it says in the message, that if he forwards it such and such will happen to him and if he does not forward it such and such will happen to him, because this is a kind of lie, as stated above.

May Allaah help us all to do that which He loves and which pleases Him.

Busy...

I have been so busy nowadays due to the upcoming event; Sportswall and SDSC Event. Being a president is indeed a heavy task. I have been falling sick for the past few days and maybe perhaps i need to rest.

However with work, events and school resting is just so hard. "O Allah, protect me from being astray by the busy life of this dunia"... I miss the masjid for its been 1 day since i've performed my solat there, and InsyaAllah i could go there after my work. The beauty of performing solat jemaah in Masjid is just hard to describe it..SubhanaAllah...

"O Allah, fill my heart and my mind with only the remembrance and praising of you and nothing else"

Ruling on taking sinners as friends

Question:

Is it permissable for a man who practice islam to talk, be friendly, and take a person who is muslim by name alone who drinks alcohol and does not pray as a friend and a helper? what is the ruling regarding taking those who do not practice their religion and go directly agains allah's commandments as friends and helpers?

Answer:

Praise be to Allaah.

Sins are of two types:

1 – Those which constitute kufr and put a person beyond the pale of Islam – we seek refuge with Allaah. The one who commits such sins is a kaafir who is beyond the pale of Islam if the conditions for describing him as a kaafir are met and there are no impediments to doing so – such as one who associates others in worship with Allaah, or does not pray at all, and so on.

2 – Sins which do not constitute kufr and do not put a person beyond the pale of Islam, but the one who does them is described as faasiq (rebellious evildoer) and a believer who is lacking in faith, such as zina (illicit sexual relationships), drinking alcohol and so on, if he does not regard these actions as permissible. If he does regard them as permissible, then this puts him beyond the pale of Islam, if the conditions for describing him as a kaafir are met and there are no impediments to doing so. The belief of Ahl al-Sunnah wa’l-Jamaa’ah and the consensus of the salaf is that a person who commits a major sin but does not regard it as permissible is not to be regarded as a kaafir.

Once this is understood, then the ruling on making friends with people is based on the above.

It is not permissible to take kaafirs as close friends, or to mix with them and feel friendly towards them, or to live amongst them and take them as friends, or to love them, or to prefer them over the believers and so on. Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning):

“You (O Muhammad) will not find any people who believe in Allaah and the Last Day, making friendship with those who oppose Allaah and His Messenger (Muhammad), even though they were their fathers or their sons or their brothers or their kindred (people). For such He has written Faith in their hearts, and strengthened them with Rooh (proofs, light and true guidance) from Himself. And He will admit them to Gardens (Paradise) under which rivers flow, to dwell therein (forever). Allaah is pleased with them, and they with Him. They are the party of Allaah. Verily, it is the party of Allaah that will be the successful”

[al-Mujaadilah 58:22]

But we are obliged to treat them fairly and justly, and not wrong them or commit acts of aggression against them with no shar’i reason. It is permissible to interact with them by buying, selling, lending, etc. It is narrated in saheeh reports that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) borrowed a weapon from Safwaan ibn Umayyah, and that he bought food from the Jews.

With regard to sinning Muslims, we should love them according to the faith that they have, and hate them according to the sins and immoral actions they commit, but being friends with them goes against the words of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him): “The likeness of a good companion and a bad companion is that of a perfume seller and one who works the bellows. With the perfume seller, either he will give you something or you will buy something from him, or you will notice a good smell from him, but with the one who works the bellows, either he will burn your clothes or you notice a bad smell from him.” Narrated by Muslim, no. 2628.

But if the intention behind sitting with this person is to soften his heart and call him to Allaah, and guide him to the right path, then this is a virtuous action, as Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning):

“And who is better in speech than he who [says: “My Lord is Allaah (believes in His Oneness),” and then stands firm (acts upon His Order), and] invites (men) to Allaah’s (Islamic Monotheism), and does righteous deeds”

[Fussilat 41:33]

But this is subject to the condition that he should not have any effect on you or cause you any harm when you are seeking good.

Based on the above, if the person you are asking about does not pray at all, then he is a kaafir, because the most correct scholarly view, which is the view of the salaf, if that the one who does not pray is a kaafir in the sense of major kufr, and is beyond the pale of Islam.Based on this, it is not permissible to befriend him or be close to him, rather he should be called to repent to Allaah and pray regularly. Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning):

“But if they repent [by rejecting Shirk (polytheism) and accept Islamic Monotheism], perform As-Salaah (Iqaamat-as-Salaah) and give Zakaah, then they are your brethren in religion”

[al-Tawbah 9:11]

It should be noted that keeping company with good people is something enjoined by our Lord, may He be exalted, and our Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him), as mentioned in the hadeeth quoted above. And Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning):

“O you who believe! Fear Allaah, and be with those who are true (in words and deeds)”

[al-Tawbah 9:119]

“And keep yourself (O Muhammad) patiently with those who call on their Lord (i.e. your companions who remember their Lord with glorification, praising in prayers, and other righteous deeds) morning and afternoon, seeking His Face”

[al-Kahf 18:28]

Wearing youth caps

Praise be to Allaah.

It is not permissible for a Muslim to imitate the kuffaar in his dress. If wearing these caps or anything else is one of their distinguishing features and something for which they are well are known and by which they are distinguished from others, then it is not permissible for the Muslim to wear those things. But if it serves some purpose and it is not something that belongs exclusively to the kuffaar, such as hats worn for work on building sites or in other workplaces, which are worn to protect the head and shade the eyes from the sun, there is nothing wrong with doing that. But if the hat is worn with the visor to the side or the back, this is not appropriate for the Muslim youth.

Kewajipan Mengawal Nafsu

Hadith :

Rasulullah s.a.w bersabda yang maksudnya:”Orang yang berjihad itu ialah mereka yang berjihad menentang nafsunya. ”

Riwayat al-Bukhari

Huraian

i) Di samping faktor-faktor luaran seperti dunia, manusia dan syaitan, faktor dalaman iaitu nafsu turut mendorong manusia melakukan maksiat kepada Allah S.W.T.

ii) Mengendalikan hawa nafsu merupakan jihad terbesar yang sangat berat dan wajib dilakukan manusia. Tanpa kemampuan mengendalikan hawa nafsu, manusia akan jatuh ke jurang kehinaan kerana nafsu sentiasa mengajak kepada keburukan dan kemudaratan .

iii) Orang yang mengikut hawa nafsu seringkali semakin asyik dengan kesesatannya itu bahkan sampai tidak merasa berdosa dengan maksiat yang dilakukan sehingga sanggup dan tanpa malu melakukan tindakan yang melampaui batas. Sebagai contoh, muda-mudi hari ini didapati begitu banyak yang berkelakuan tidak senonoh seperti bercumbu-cumbuan di khalayak ramai dan yang seumpama dengannya sedangkan kita mengetahui bahawa menurut hawa nafsu mengakibatkan kehidupan moral dan akhlak mulia manusia menjadi rosak .

iv) Adalah amat penting bagi setiap umat Islam memiliki nafsu yang selalu memperoleh petunjuk dari Allah S.W.T sebagaimana nafsu yang telah dimiliki oleh Nabi Yusuf a.s sehingga beliau dapat menghindarkan dirinya dari segala bentuk kemaksiatan.

Jangan Berbohong

Hadith :
Dari Ibnu Umar r.a katanya:”Saya dengar nabi SAW bersabda:”Bagi tiap-tiap orang yang khianat (penipu) ada bendera yang dipancangkan tanda khianatnya di hari kiamat kelak.”

(Bukhari)

Huraian

Rasulullah SAW menjelaskan sifat-sifat orang munafiq, di antaranya: Apabila ia berkata, ia berbohong, apabila berjanji, ia mungkiri dan apabila diberi amanah, ia khianat. Maka wajar jika Rasulullah SAW menyatakan bahawa berdusta atau berbohong itu termasuk dalam dosa besar. Dalam sebuah riwayat diceritakan, telah datang kepada Rasulullah SAW, seorang lelaki meminta nasihat. Lelaki itu mengaku bahawa dia tidak dapatmeninggalkan satu maksiat yang biasa dilakukannya, iaitu berzina. Mendengar pengakuan jujur lelaki ini Rasulullah SAW berwasiat kepadanya:” Hanya dengan satu perkara: "Laa Takzib! (Jangan berbohong!)." How A Person Could Change

The following story was narrated to us by brother Mahmud from Preston, England. Once, he along with a group of Muslims were visiting a city for inviting others to ALLAH. They happened to pass by a group of youths who were Muslims by birth but became gang members. The brothers didn't give those gang members the negative attitude that others gave while passing by them. Rather, they went and hand-shook with them out of brotherhood. With love and affection, the brothers invited the youths to come to the Masjid (Mosque).

Not being familiar with such kindness, the gang members were surprised and decided to come to the Masjid for once. These youths were so much away from Islam that they were smoking in the Masjid and doing a lot of other disrespectful acts. However, brother Mahmud and others were discussing with them about the Greatness of ALLAH with patience and endurance. A time came when the brothers had to return to their homes and before leaving they advised the gang members to turn towards ALLAH.

After several years, brother Mahmud was attending a large gathering of Muslims when suddenly someone called him from the back. There were few people dressed in sunnah (according to how Prophet Muhammad was dressed) standing behind him. They asked brother Mahmud if he recognizes them. They told him, “We are those gang members whom you visited few years back. We decided to go out and learn more about Islam and eventually changed our lives.”

It is reported in a saheeh hadeeth that a group of the Sahaabah asked the Prophet SAWS (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him): “Teach us which kind of wealth is best, so that we may try to acquire it?” He said: “The best is a remembering tongue (one that remembers Allaah), a grateful heart and a believing wife who helps one’s faith.” (Reported by Ahmad, 5/278; al-Tirmidhi, 3039; Saheeh al-Jaami’, 5231).

What could be the problem?

Its sad to see a fellow muslims who don't solat and you do ask yourselve why. For what me and my friend realized is that to a certain extent we shouldn't blame them for their parents don't solat too.

Parents have to be good leaders and when leaders are mentioned in a family the first thing that we can think of is the king of the family; the husband or the father.

Basically, with a strong leader who cares for his family, who cares for his hereafter will probably think also about the fate of his loved ones in the hereafter due to the fact he will be questioned on what he has done to lead his loved ones to the right path.

Then this narrows down to the question, who is the strong leader? what are the ideal attributes of a leader(the husband) in a family? Does age really matter in this case? does the husband have to be older than the wife? for age is a number and doesn't tell much about the person.

Praise be to Allaah.

We appreciate your eagerness to find out the attributes which will help you to choose a righteous husband, in shaa Allaah. There follows a description of the most important qualities which should be present in the man whom you choose or accept to be your husband and the father of your children, if Allaah decrees that you will have children.

1. Religious commitment. This is the most important thing to look for in the man you want to marry. The husband should be a Muslim who adheres to all the laws and teachings of Islam in his daily life. The woman’s guardian (wali) should strive to check out this matter and not rely only on outward appearances. One of the most important things to ask about is the man’s prayer (salaah); the one who neglects the rights of Allaah is more likely to neglect the rights of others. The true believer does not oppress or mistreat his wife; if he loves her, he honours her, and if he does not love her, he does not mistreat or humiliate her. It is very rare to find this attitude among those who are not sincere Muslims. Allaah says (interpretation of the meanings):

“and verily, a believing slave is better than a (free) Mushrik (idolater), even though he pleases you” [al-Baqarah 2:221]

“Verily, the most honourable of you with Allaah is that (believer) who has At-Taqwaa [i.e. he is one of the Muttaqoon (the pious)]” [al-Hujuraat 49:13]

“Good statements are for good people (or good women for good men) and good people for good statements (or good men for good women)” [al-Noor 24:26]

The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said:

“If there comes to you one whose religious commitment and attitude pleases you, then marry [your female relative who is under your care] to him, for if you do not do that, there will be tribulation on earth and much corruption.” (Narrated by al-Tirmidhi and classed as saheeh by al-Albaani in Saheeh Sunan al-Tirmidhi, 1084).

2. As well as being religiously committed, it is preferable that he should come from a good family and a known lineage. If two men come to propose marriage to one woman, and they are equal in terms of religious commitment, then preference should be given to the one who comes from a good family that is known for its adherence to the commands of Allaah, so long as the other person is not better than him in terms of religious commitment – because the righteousness of the husband’s close relatives could be passed on to his children and his good origins and lineage may make him refrain from many foolish and cheap actions. The righteousness of the father and grandfather are beneficial to the children and grandchildren. Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning):

“And as for the wall, it belonged to two orphan boys in the town; and there was under it a treasure belonging to them; and their father was a righteous man, and your Lord intended that they should attain their age of full strength and take out their treasure as a mercy from your Lord” [al-Kahf 18:82].

See how Allaah protected their father’s wealth for the two boys after the father died, as an honour to him because of his righteousness and taqwaa. By the same token, if the husband comes from a righteous family and his parents are good, Allaah will make things easy for him and protect him as an honour to his parents.

3. It is good if he has sufficient wealth to keep him and his family from having to ask people for anything, because the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said to Faatimah bint Qays (may Allaah be pleased with her), when she came to consult him about three men who had proposed marriage to her, “As for Mu’aawiyah, he is a poor man who has no wealth…” (Narrated by Muslim, 1480). It is not essential that he should be a businessman or rich, it is sufficient for him to have an income that will keep him and his family from having to ask people for anything. If there is a choice between a man who is religiously committed and a man who is wealthy, then the religious man should be given preference over the wealthy man.

4. It is preferable that he should be kind and gentle towards women, because the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said to Faatimah bint Qays, in the hadeeth quoted above, “As for Abu Jaham, his stick never leaves his shoulder”, referring to the fact that he used to beat women a lot.

5. It is good if he is sound of body and healthy, free of faults, sickness, etc., and not disabled or sterile.

6. It is preferable that he should have knowledge of the Qur’aan and Sunnah; if you find someone like this it is good, otherwise you should realize that this is something rare.

7. It is permissible for the woman to look at the man who comes to propose marriage, and for him to look at her. This should be in the presence of her mahram, and it is not permitted to look more than is necessary, or for him to see her alone, or for her to go out with him on her own, or to meet repeatedly for no reason.

8. According to Islam, the woman’s wali (guardian) should check on the man who proposes marriage to the woman who is under his guardianship; he should ask those whom he trusts among those who mix with him and who know him, about his commitment to Islam and his trustworthiness. He should ask them for an honest opinion and sincere, sound advice.

9. Before and during all of this, you must turn towards Allaah and pray to Him to make it easy for you and help you to make a good choice and to grant you wisdom. Then after all these efforts, when you have decided on a particular person, you should pray Istikhaarah, asking Allaah for that which is good. For more details on Salaat al-Istikhaarah, please see Question # 2217. Then after you have done your utmost, put your trust in Allaah, for He is the best of helpers, may He be glorified.

1. Our Knowledge: Wasted by not taking action with it ..... more

2. Our Actions: Wasted by committing them without sincerity.

3. Our Wealth: Wasted by using on things that will not bring us ajr (reward from Allah). We waste our money, our status, our authority, on things which have no benefit in this life or in akhirah (hereafter).

4. Our Hearts: Wasted because they are empty from the love of Allah, and the feeling of longing to go to Him, and a feeling of peace and contentment. In it's place, our hearts are filled with something or someoneelse.

5. Our Bodies: Wasted because we don't use them in ibadah (worship) and service of Allah.

6. Our Love: Our emotional love is misdirected, not towards Allah, but towards something/someone else.

7. Our Time: Wasted, not used properly, to compensate for that which has passed, by doing what is righteous to make up for past deeds.

8. Our Intellect: Wasted on things that are not beneficial, that are detrimental to society and the individual, not in contemplation or reflection.

9. Our Service: Wasted in service of someone who will not bring us closer to Allah, or benefit in dunyaa.

10. Our Dhikr (Remembrence of Allah): Wasted, because it does not effect us or our hearts.

What does a person say when he is in times of distress?

Praise be to Allaah.

Imaam Ahmad reported from ‘Abdullah ibn Mas‘ood, may Allaah be pleased with him: "The Messenger of Allaah (Peace & Blessings of Allaah be upon Him) said: "There is no slave who, when he is stricken by anxiety and sorrow, says ‘O Allaah, I am Your slave and the son of Your male slave and female slave. My forelock is in Your hand (i.e., You have complete mastery over me), Your command over me is forever executed, and Your decree over me is just. I ask You by every name belonging to You which You named Yourself with, or revealed in Your Book, or You taught to any of Your creation, or You have preserved in the knowledge of the Unseen with You, that You make the Qur’aan the life of my heart and the light of my breast, and a departure for my sorrow and a release for my anxiety’ - but Allaah will remove his sorrow and replace his grief with joy." The people said: "O Messenger of Allaah, we should learn these words." He said: "The one hears them should learn them.

"Ibn ‘Abbaas reported that at times of distress, the Messenger of Allaah (Peace & Blessings of Allaah be upon Him) used to say: "There is no god but Allaah, the All-Great, the Patient; there is no god but Allaah, Lord of the Mighty Throne; there is no god but Allaah, the Lord of heaven, the Lord of earth, and the Lord of the Noble Throne." (reported by al-Bukhaari, may Allaah have mercy on him, no. 5870).

The Prophet (Peace & Blessings of Allaah be upon Him) said: "The prayer for one stricken by distress is: "O Allaah, it is Your mercy that I hope for, so do not leave me in charge of my affairs even for a blink of an eye, and rectify for me all of my affairs. None has the right to be worshipped except You." (Reported by Imaam Ahmad in al-Musnad, Abu Dawud in al-Sunan, Kitaab al-Adab, Baab maa yaqool idhaa asbaha; see also Saheeh al-Jaami‘, 3388).

Asmaa’ bint ‘Umays said: "The Messenger of Allaah (Peace & Blessings of Allaah be upon Him) said to me: ‘Shall I not teach you some words to say at times of distress? "O Allaah, You are my Lord and I do not associate anything with You."’" (Reported by Abu Dawud in al-Sunan, Kitaab al-salaat, Baab fi’l-istighfaar; see also Saheeh al-Jaami‘, no. 2623).

The Prophet (Peace & Blessings of Allaah be upon Him) said to his companions: "Shall I not tell you some words which, if distress or grief befalls any of you and he offers this prayer (supplication), it will bring him joy? It is the du‘aa’ of Dhoo’l-Noon (i.e. Yunus or Jonah): ‘There is no god but You, Glory to You; verily I was one of the wrongdoers.’" (Saheeh al-Jaami‘, no. 2605).

Anas ibn Maalik said: "Whenever something distressed him, the Prophet (Peace & Blessings of Allaah be upon Him) used to say: ‘O Ever-Living, O Self-Sustaining, by Your mercy I seek Your help." (Reported by al-Tirmidhi, no. 3446).

You must recite these du‘aa’s, may Allaah benefit you thereby and replace your sorrow with joy. May Allaah bless our Prophet Muhammad.

Remember when you mentioned that your mum said its not permissible to salam your uncle?

My friend actually got the answer on whether we're allowed to salam our Uncles or Aunties.
She sent me an email regarding it so i shall put it below.

Kindly inform the 'somebody' who tagged in your blog, that we are allowed to salam the hands of our aunts/uncles so long they are of our mahram.for example: a girl can salam her mother's siblings regardless of the gender.but, she can't salam her mother's sister's husband. cus he is related bymarriage, not by blood.

As'salam mualaikum...

The main reason i included the topic below because today at home i watched this Malay Drama about a women A who at first married a men she love but the men didn't have any religious commitment. And so, her first husband actually divorced her after liking a new women.
Women A then went back to her kampung and actually married a man with high religious commitment. At first she didn't like her husband because she never love that man. But however as time goes by, she changed and with the help of her new husband and she actually repented from her old mistakes and live happily with her new husband.

What are the most important factors for a woman in choosing a husband? If she rejects a righteous man for some worldly reasons, will she be punished by Allaah?

The most important factors for a woman in choosing a husband are his attitude/behaviour and his commitment to religion. Wealth and lineage are secondary matters. The most important thing is that the potential husband should be religious and have a good attitude, because if a man has religious commitment and a good attitude, a woman has nothing to lose: if he keeps her (remains married to her), he will keep her on a reasonable basis, and if he divorces her, he will set her free on a reasonable basis. Moreover, a man who is religious and has a good attitude will be a blessing to her and her children, for they will learn good manners and religion from him. But if the prospective husband is not like that (is not religious), she should keep away from him, especially those who take the matter of prayer lightly or who are known to drink alcohol. We seek refuge with Allaah.

As for those who do not pray at all, they are kuffaar and it is not permissible for them to marry believing women. It is important for the woman to focus on the matter of attitude and religious commitment. With regard to the matter of lineage, this is a bonus. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “If there comes to you (to propose marriage to your daughter etc.) a man with whose religious commitment and attitude you are pleased, then marry (your daughter) to him.”

But if you can manage to ensure compatibility (in terms of lineage and socio-economic status, etc.) as well, then this is better.

What is the ruling on a male student shaking hands with a female classmate? What should he do if she holds out her hand to greet him?

Praise be to Allaah.

It is not permitted to study in a mixed setting with female students in one place or in one school or on one bench. This is one of the greatest causes of fitnah (temptation) and it is not permissible for a male or female student to take part in this, because of the fitnah involved. The Muslim should not shake hands with a non-mahram female, even if she holds out her hand for him to shake, and he should tell her that shaking hands with a non-mahram man is not permitted, because the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said, when accepting the allegiance (bay’ah) of women: “I do not shake hands with women.” And it was narrated that ‘Aa’ishah (may Allaah be pleased with her) said: “By Allaah, the hand of the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) never touched the hand of any (non-mahram) woman; he used to accept their allegiance in words only.” And Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning):

“Indeed in the Messenger of Allaah (Muhammad) you have a good example to follow for him who hopes for (the Meeting with) Allaah and the Last Day, and remembers Allaah much”

[al-Ahzaab 33:21]

For a woman to shake hands with someone who is not her mahram is something that may lead to temptation for both parties, so it must be avoided.

There is nothing wrong with the shar’i greeting of salaam in which there is no fitnah and no shaking hands, and which does not give rise to doubts and does not involve any softness in speech, and in which hijaab is observed and there is no being alone with a member of the opposite sex, because Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning):

“O wives of the Prophet! You are not like any other women. If you keep your duty (to Allaah), then be not soft in speech, lest he in whose heart is a disease (of hypocrisy, or evil desire for adultery) should be moved with desire, but speak in an honourable manner”

[al-Ahzaab 33:32]

At the time of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him), the women used to greet him and ask him questions concerning things they did not understand, and the women also used to ask the companions of the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) concerning things they did not understand.

With regard to a woman shaking hands with other women, or shaking hands with men who are her mahrams, such as her brothers, uncles, etc., there is nothing wrong with that.

Five Poisons of the Heart

1. Unnecessary Talking

Umar Ibn al-Khattab, may Allah be pleased with him, said: "A person who talks too much is a person who often makes mistakes, and someone who often makes mistakes, often has wrong actions. The Fire has a priority over such a frequent sinner."

2. Unrestrained Glances

It has been related that the Prophet once said words to the effect: "The glance is a poisoned arrow of shaytan. Whoever lowers his gaze for Allah, He will bestow upon him a refreshing sweetness which he will find in his heart on the day that he meets Him."

3. Too Much Food

Al-Miqdam ibn Ma'd Yakrib said: "I heard the Messenger of Allah say: "The son of Adam fills no vessel more displeasing to Allah than his stomach. A few morsels should be enough for him to preserve his strength. If he must fill it, then he should allow a third for his food, a third for his drink and leave a third empty for easybreathing."

4. Keeping Bad Company

Allah's Apostle said , "The example of a good companion (who sits with you) in comparison with a bad one, is I like that of the musk seller and the blacksmith's bellows (or furnace); from the first you would either buy musk or enjoy its good smell while the bellows would either burn your clothes or your house, or you get a bad nasty smell thereof."

5. Excessive Sleeping

It is necessary for a person to have a sound sleep for good health and mind. But excessive sleeping causes an adverse impact on person. It has dire consequences on person’s RIZQ and BARAKAH. Therefore there is Hadith advising Duas asking refuge from lazy and dull heart and mind.

Why are there more women in hell than men?

Praise be to Allaah.

It was narrated from the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) that women will form the majority of the people of Hell. It was narrated from ‘Imraan ibn Husayn that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “I looked into Paradise and I saw that the majority of its people were the poor. And I looked into Hell and I saw that the majority of its people are women.”

(Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 3241; Muslim, 2737)

With regard to the reason for that, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) was asked about it and he explained the reason.

It was narrated that ‘Abd-Allaah ibn ‘Abbaas said: The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “I was shown Hell and I have never seen anything more terrifying than it. And I saw that the majority of its people are women.” They said, “Why, O Messenger of Allaah?” He said, “Because of their ingratitude (kufr).” It was said, “Are they ungrateful to Allaah?” He said, “They are ungrateful to their companions (husbands) and ungrateful for good treatment. If you are kind to one of them for a lifetime then she sees one (undesirable) thing in you, she will say, ‘I have never had anything good from you.’” (Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 1052)

It was narrated that Abu Sa’eed al-Khudri said:

“The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) went out to the Musalla on the day of Eid al-Adha or Eid al-Fitr. He passed by the women and said, ‘O women! Give charity, for I have seen that you form the majority of the people of Hell.’ They asked, ‘Why is that, O Messenger of Allaah?’ He replied, ‘You curse frequently and are ungrateful to your husbands. I have not seen anyone more deficient in intelligence and religious commitment than you. A cautious sensible man could be led astray by some of you.’ The women asked, ‘O Messenger of Allaah, what is deficient in our intelligence and religious commitment?’ He said, ‘Is not the testimony of two women equal to the testimony of one man?’ They said, ‘Yes.’ He said, ‘This is the deficiency in her intelligence. Is it not true that a woman can neither pray nor fast during her menses?’ The women said, ‘Yes.’ He said, ‘This is the deficiency in her religious commitment.’”

(Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 304)

It was narrated that Jaabir ibn ‘Abd-Allaah said: “I attended Eid prayers with the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him). He started with the prayer before the khutbah, with no adhaan or iqaamah. Then he stood up, leaning on Bilaal, speaking of fear of Allaah (taqwa) and urging us to obey Him. He preached to the people and reminded them. Then he went over to the women and preached to them and reminded them. Then he said, ‘Give in charity, for you are the majority of the fuel of Hell. A woman with dark cheeks stood up in the midst of the women and said, ‘Why is that, O Messenger of Allaah?’ He said, ‘Because you complain too much and are ungrateful to your husbands.’ Then they started to give their jewellery in charity, throwing their earrings and rings into Bilaal’s cloak.”

(Narrated by Muslim, 885)

Our believing sisters who learn of this hadeeth should behave like those Sahaabiyaat who, when they learned of this, did good deeds which would be the means, by Allaah’s leave, of keeping them far away from being included in that majority of the inhabitants of Hell.

So our advice to the sisters is to strive to adhere to the rituals and obligatory duties of Islam, especially prayer, and to keep away from that which Allaah has forbidden, especially shirk in its many forms which are widespread among women, such as seeking one's needs from someone other than Allaah, going to practitioners of witchcraft and fortune-tellers, etc.

We ask Allaah to keep us and all our brothers and sisters far away from the Fire and the words and deeds that bring one close to it.

74 Wasiyat Untuk Para Pemuda

1. Ikhlaskanlah niat kepada Allah dan hati-hatilah dari riya’ baik dalam perkataan ataupun perbuatan.

2. Ikutilah sunnah Nabi dalam semua perkataan, perbuatan, dan akhlak.

3. Bertaqwalah kepada Allah dan ber’azamlah untuk melaksanakan semua perintah dan menjauhi segala larangan-Nya.

4. Bertaubatlah kepada Allah dengan taubat nashuha dan perbanyaklah istighfar.

5. Ingatlah bahwa Allah senatiasa mengawasi gerak-gerikmu. Dan ketahuilah bahwa Allah melihatmu, mendengarmu dan mengetahui apa yang terbersit di hatimu.

6. Berimanlah kepada Allah, malaikat-Nya, kitab-kitab-Nya, rasul-rasul-Nya, dan hari akhir serta qadar yang baik ataupun yang buruk.

7. Janganlah engkau taqlid (mengekor) kepada orang lain dengan buta (tanpa memilih dan memilah mana yang baik dan yang buruk serta mana yang sesuai dengan sunnah/syari’at dan mana yang tidak). Dan janganlah engkau termasuk orang yang tidak punya pendirian.

8. Jadilah engkau sebagai orang pertama dalam mengamalkan kebaikan karena engkau akan mendapatkan pahalanya dan pahala orang yang mengikuti/mencontohmu dalam mengamalkannya.

9. Peganglah kitab Riyadlush Shalihin, bacalah olehmu dan bacakan pula kepada keluargamu, demikian juga kitab Zaadul Ma’ad oleh Ibnul Qayyim.

10. Jagalah selalu wudlu’mu dan perbaharuilah. Dan jadilah engkau senantiasa dalam keadaan suci dari hadats dan najis.

11. Jagalah selalu shalat di awal waktu dan berjamaah di masjid terlebih lagi sahalat ‘Isya dan Fajr (shubuh).

12. Janganlah memakan makanan yang mempunyai bau yang tidak enak seperti bawang putih dan bawang merah. Dan janganlah merokok agar tidak membahayakan dirimu dan kaum muslimin.

13. Jagalah selalu shalat berjamaah agar engkau mendapat kemenangan dengan pahala yang ada pada shalat berjamaah tersebut.

14. Tunaikanlah zakat yang telah diwajibkan dan janganlah engkau bakhil kepada orang-orang yang berhak menerimanya.

15. Bersegeralah berangkat untuk shalat Jumat dan janganlah berlambat-lambat sampai setelah adzan kedua karena engkau akan berdosa.

16. Puasalah di bulan Ramadhan dengan penuh keimanan dan mengharap pahala dari Allah agar Allah mengampuni dosa-dosamu baik yang telah lalu ataupun yang akan datang.

17. Hati-hatilah dari berbuka di siang hari di bulan Ramadhan tanpa udzur syar’i sebab engkau akan berdosa karenanya.

18. Tegakkanlah shalat malam (tarawih) di bulan Ramadhan terlebih-lebih pada malam lailatul qadar dengan penuh keimanan dan mengharap pahala dari Allah agar engkau mendapatkan ampunan atas dosa-dosamu yang telah lalu.

19. Bersegeralah untuk haji dan umrah ke Baitullah Al-Haram jika engkau termasuk orang yang mampu dan janganlah menunda-nunda.

20. Bacalah Al-Qur’an dengan mentadaburi maknanya. Laksanakanlah perintahnya dan jauhi larangannya agar Al-Qur’an itu menjadi hujjah bagimu di sisi rabmu dan menjadi penolongmu di hari qiyamat.

21. Senantiasalah memperbanyak dzikir kepada Allah baik perlahan-lahan ataupun dikeraskan, apakah dalam keadaan berdiri, duduk ataupun berbaring. Dan hati-hatilah engkau dari kelalaian.

22. Hadirilah majelis-majelis dzikir karena majelis dzikir termasuk taman surga.

23. Tundukkan pandanganmu dari aurat dan hal-hal yang diharamkan dan hati-hatilah engkau dari mengumbar pandangan, karena pandangan itu merupakan anak panah beracun dari anak panah Iblis.

24. Janganlah engkau panjangkan pakaianmu melebihi mata kaki dan janganlah engkau berjalan dengan kesombongan/keangkuhan.

25. Janganlah engkau memakai pakaian sutra dan emas karena keduanya diharamkan bagi laki-laki.

26. Janganlah engkau menyeruapai wanita dan janganlah engkau biarkan wanita-wanitamu menyerupai laki-laki.

27. Biarkanlah janggutmu karena Rasulullah: “Cukurlah kumis dan panjangkanlah janggut.” (HR. Bukhari Dan Muslim)

28. Janganlah engkau makan kecuali yang halal dan janganlah engkau minum kecuali yang halal agar doamu diijabah.

29. Ucapkanlah bismillah ketika engkau hendak makan dan minum dan ucapkanlah alhamdulillah apabila engkau telah selesai.

30. Makanlah dengan tangan kanan, minumlah dengan tangan kanan, ambillah dengan tangan kanan dan berilah dengan tangan kanan.

31. Hati-hatilah dari berbuat kezhaliman karena kezhaliman itu merupakan kegelapan di hari kiamat.

32. Janganlah engkau bergaul kecuali dengan orang mukmin dan janganlah dia memakan makananmu kecuali engkau dalam keadaan bertaqwa (dengan ridla dan memilihkan makanan yang halal untuknya).33. Hati-hatilah dari suap-menyuap (kolusi), baik itu memberi suap, menerima suap ataupun perantaranya, karena pelakunya terlaknat.

34. Janganlah engkau mencari keridlaan manusia dengan kemurkaan Allah karena Allah akan murka kepadamu.

35. Ta’atilah pemerintah dalam semua perintah yang sesuai dengan syari’at dan doakanlah kebaikan untuk mereka.

36. Hati-hatilah dari bersaksi palsu dan menyembunyikan persaksian.“Barangsiapa yang menyembunyikan persaksiannya maka hatinya berdosa. Dan Allah maha mengetahui apa yang kalian kerjakan.” (Al-Baqarah: 283)

37. “Dan ber amar ma’ruf nahi munkarlah serta shabarlah dengan apa yang menimpamu.” (Luqman: 17)Ma’ruf adalah apa-apa yang diperintahkan oleh Allah dan rasul-Nya , dan munkar adalah apa-apa yang dilarang oleh Allah dan rasul-Nya.

38. Tinggalkanlah semua hal yang diharamkan baik yang kecil ataupun yang besar dan janganlah engkau bermaksiat kepada Allah dan janganlah membantu seorangpun dalam bermaksiat kepada-Nya.

39. Janganlah engkau dekati zina. Allah berfirman: “Janganlah kalian mendekati zina. Sesungguhnya zina itu adalah kekejian dan sejelek-jelek jalan.” (Al-Isra’:32)

40. Wajib bagimu berbakti kepada orang tua dan hati-hatilah dari mendurhakainya.

41. Wajib bagimua untuk silaturahim dan hati-hatilah dari memutuskan hubungan silaturahim.

42. Berbuat baiklah kepada tetanggamu dan janganlah menyakitinya. Dan apabila dia menyakitimu maka bersabarlah.

43. Perbanyaklah mengunjungi orang-orang shalih dan saudaramu di jalan Allah.

44. Cintalah karena Allah dan bencilah juga karena Allah karena hal itu merupakan tali keimanan yang paling kuat.

45. Wajib bagimu untuk duduk bermajelis dengan orang shalih dan hati-hatilah dari bermajelis dengan orang-orang yang jelek.

46. Bersegeralah untuk memenuhi hajat (kebutuhan) kaum muslimin dan buatlah mereka bahagia.

47. Berhiaslah dengan kelemahlembutan, sabar dan teliti. Hatilah-hatilah dari sifat keras, kasar dan tergesa-gesa.

48. Janganlah memotong pembicaraan orang lain dan jadilah engkau pendengar yang baik.

49. Sebarkanlah salam kepada orang yang engkau kenal ataupun tidak engkau kenal.

50. Ucapkanlah salam yang disunahkan yaitu assalamualaikum dan tidak cukup hanya dengan isyarat telapak tangan atau kepala saja.

51. Janganlah mencela seorangpun dan mensifatinya dengan kejelekan.

52. Janganlah melaknat seorangpun termasuk hewan dan benda mati.

53. Hati-hatilah dari menuduh dan mencoreng kehormatan oarng lain karena hal itu termasuk dosa yang paling besar.

54. Hati-hatilah dari namimah (mengadu domba), yakni menyampaikan perkataan di antara manusia dengan maksud agar terjadi kerusakan di antara mereka.

55. Hati-hatilah dari ghibah, yakni engkau menceritakan tentang saudaramu apa-apa yang dia benci jika mengetahuinya.

56. Janganlah engkau mengagetkan, menakuti dan menyakiti sesama muslim.

57. Wajib bagimu melakukan ishlah (perdamaian) di antara manusia karena hal itu merupakan amalan yang paling utama.

58. Katakanlah hal-hal yang baik, jika tidak maka diamlah.

59. Jadilah engkau orang yang jujur dan janganlah berdusta karena dusta akan mengantarkan kepada dosa dan dosa mengantarakan kepada neraka.

60. Janganlah engkau bermuka dua. Datang kepada sekelompok dengan satu wajah dan kepada kelompok lain dengan wajah yang lain.

61. Janganlah bersumpah dengan selain Allah dan janganlah banyak bersumpah meskipun engkau benar.

62. Janganlah menghina orang lain karena tidak ada keutamaan atas seorangpun kecuali dengan taqwa.

63. Janganlah mendatang dukun, ahli nujum serta tukang sihir dan jangan membenarkan (perkataan) mereka.

64. Janganlah menggambar gambar manuasia dan binatang. Sesungguhnya manusia yang paling keras adzabnya pada hari kiamat adalah tukang gambar.

65. Janganlah menyimpan gambar makhluk yang bernyawa di rumahmu karena akan menghalangi malaikat untuk masuk ke rumahmu.

66. Tasymitkanlah orang yang bersin dengan membaca: yarhamukallah apabila dia mengucapkan: alhamdulillah

67. Jauhilah bersiul dan tepuk tangan.

68. Bersegeralah untuk bertaubat dari segala dosa dan ikutilah kejelekan dengan kebaikan karena kebaikan tersebut akan menghapuskannya. Dan hati-hatilah dari menunda-nunda.

69. Berharaplah selalu akan ampunan Allah serta rahmat-Nya dan berbaik sangkalah kepada Allah .

70. Takutlah kepada adzab Allah dan janganlah merasa aman darinya.

71. Bersabarlah dari segala mushibah yang menimpa dan bersyukurlah dengan segala kenikamatan yang ada.

72. Perbanyaklah melakukan amal shalih yang pahalanya terus mengalir meskipun engkau telah mati, seperti membangun masjid dan menyebarakan ilmu.

73. Mohonlah surga kepada Allah dan berlindunglah dari nereka.

74. Perbanyaklah mengucapkan shalawat dan salam kepada Rasulullah.Shalawat dan salam senantiasa Allah curahkan kepadanya sampai hari kiamat juga kepada keluarganya dan seluruh shahabatnya.

Will the Qur’aan disappear at the end of time?

Praise be to Allaah.

There are a number of ahaadeeth which indicate that the Qur’aan will be taken away at the end of time. Among these ahaadeeth are the following:

From ‘Abd-Allaah ibn Mas’ood, who said: “Something will come and take the Qur’aan one night and not one aayah will be left, either in the Mus-haf or in the heart of any person, but it will be taken away.” (Narrated by al-Daarimi with a saheeh isnaad, no. 3209)

Al-Daarimi narrated with a different saheeh isnaad (no. 3207) that ‘Abd-Allaah ibn Mas’ood said: “Recite the Qur’aan much before it is taken away.” They said, “These Mus-hafs will be taken away! What about that which is (memorized) in men’s hearts?” He said: “Something will come and take it one night, and in the morning they will wake up without it. They will forget the phrase ‘laa ilaaha ill-Allaah’ and they will start to recite the sayings and poetry of the Jaahiliyyah. That is when the Word will be fulfilled against them.”

The phrase ‘That is when the Word will be fulfilled against them’ is a reference to the aayah (interpretation of the meaning):

“And when the Word (of torment) is fulfilled against them, We shall bring out from the earth a beast for them, to speak to them because mankind believed not with certainty in Our Ayaat (Verses of the Qur’aan and Prophet Muhammad)” [al-Naml 27:82].

Ibn Katheer said in his tafseer of this aayah:

This beast will emerge at the end of time when mankind becomes so corrupt that they neglect the commandments of Allaah and change the true religion. Allaah will bring forth for them a beast from the earth – it was said from Makkah, or from elsewhere – and it will speak to the people concerning that. Ibn ‘Abbaas, al-Hasan and al-Qutaadah said – and it was also narrated from ‘Ali ibn Abi Taalib – (may Allaah be pleased with them all): it will speak to them, i.e., it will address them. ‘Ataa’ al-Khurasaani said – and it was narrated from ‘Ali and this was the view favourd by Ibn Jareer: it will speak to them and it will say to them, ‘mankind believed not with certainty in Our Ayaat’. There are some reservations about this interpretation, and Allaah knows best.

According to one report, Ibn ‘Abbaas said: the words tukallimuhum (to speak to them) means, it will wound them; according to another report he said: it will do both (i.e., speak to them and wound them). [The word Tukallim may mean either speak or wound. – Translator]. This is a good point with no contradictions, and Allaah knows best.

Many ahaadeeth and reports have been narrated about the beast, such as the following:

It was reported that Hudhayfah ibn Usayd al-Ghiffaari said: The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) saw us from a room whilst we were talking about the Hour. He said: “The Hour will not come until you see ten signs: the rising of the sun from the west; the smoke; the beast; the emergence of Ya’jooj and Ma’jooj; the appearance of ‘Eesaa ibn Maryam (peace be upon him); the Dajjaal (“antichrist”); three landslides – one in the west, one in the east and one in the Arabian Peninsula; and fire which will emerge from the direction of ‘Aden and will drive – or gather – the people, stopping with them whenever they rest overnight or during the siesta hour.”

(Narrated by Imaam Ahmed, no. 46 – his version is his; also by Muslim, no 2901; Abu Dawood, no. 4311; al-Tirmidhi, no. 2183 - he said it is hasan saheeh; al-Nasaa’i, no. 1138; Ibn Maajah, no. 4055).

It was reported from Abu Hurayrah that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said:

“There are three things which, when they appear, it will not benefit anyone to believe if he did not believe before: the Dajjaal, the beast and the rising of the sun from the west – or from the place where it sets.”

(Narrated by al-Tirmidhi, no. 3072; he said it is a saheeh hasan hadeeth).

It was reported from Abu Hurayrah that the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said:

“Hasten to do good deeds before six things come to pass: the rising of the sun from the place where it sets; the smoke; the Dajjaal; the beast; or personal calamities or general tribulations.”

(narrated by Muslim, no. 2947; Ibn Maajah, no. 4056, and others). There are many ahaadeeth which speak of the beast which will emerge at the end of time, but it would take too long to quote them all here. And Allaah is the Source of strength.

Further evidence that the Qur’aan will be taken away at the end of time is to be found in the report narrated by al-Tabaraani in al-Mu’jam al-Kabeer, no. 8698, according to which Ibn Mas’ood (may Allaah be pleased with him) said:

“This Qur’aan will most certainly be taken away from amongst you.” He was asked: “O Abu ‘Abd al-Rahmaan, how will it be taken away when it is so deeply rooted in our hearts and is written in our mus-hafs?” He said: “Something will come to it at night, then there will be nothing left of it in people’s hearts or in the mus-haf, and the next morning the people will be like animals.” Then he recited the aayah (interpretation of the meaning): “And if We willed, We could surely, take away that which We have revealed to you (i.e. this Qur’aan). Then you would find no protector for you against Us in that respect” [al-Israa’ 17:86]. Ibn Hajar said in Fath al-Baari (13/16): its isnaad is saheeh but it is mawqoof. Al-Haythami said in Majma’ al-Zawaa’id, 7/329): its men are the men of saheeh, apart from Shaddaad ibn Ma’qil, who is thiqah. And it was classed as saheeh by al-Albaani.

This hadeeth is to be regarded as marfoo’, because it deals with something which is not subject to opinion or ijtihaad.

Imaam Ibn Taymiyah (may Allaah have mercy on him) said in Majmoo’ al-Fataawaa (3/198): “At the end of time, something will come to it at night in the mus-hafs and in people’s hearts, then there will not be left one word of it in people’s hearts or one letter of it in the Mus-haf.”

Allaah revealed the Qur’aan as a guidance to mankind and He guaranteed to protect it. It is the eternal miracle of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) and it will remain, and people of earlier and later generations will learn from it and be guided by it, but at the end of time, just before the Hour comes, Allaah will take the souls of the believers, and there will be no one left on earth except the most evil of people. There will be no prayer, no fasting, no Hajj and no charity (zakaah). Then there will be no point in the Ka’bah being there or in the Qur’aan remaining among mankind, so Allaah will decree that the Ka’bah be destroyed at the hands of a kaafir from Ethiopia. Al-Bukhaari narrated in his Saheeh, no. 1519 that Abu Hurayrah (may Allaah be pleased with him) said: the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “The Ka’bah will be destroyed by Dhu’l-Suwayqatayn from Ethiopia.” And Allaah will take the Qur’aan away from the earth, and not one aayah of it will be left in the mus-hafs or in people’s hearts. Allaah will not permit His Book to remain on earth if it is not benefitting anyone and no one is acting in accordance with it. So this thing will come to pass.

This frightening event makes the sincere Muslim hasten to pay attention to the Book of Allaah, to learn it, memorize it, recite it and ponder its meanings, before the Book is taken away.

This is one of the tribulations that will happen at the end of time, concerning which our Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said:

“Hasten to do good deeds before tribulations come like patches of dark night, when a man will wake up as a believer and by evening he will be a kaafir, or in the evening he will be a believer and by morning he will be a kaafir, selling his religion for some worldly gains.” (narrated by Muslim, no. 169).

We ask Allaah to make us adhere firmly to His religion and to protect us from tribulations, both seen and unseen.

He has repented from a relationship with a non-mahram woman but he still loves her and feels attached to her

Praise be to Allaah.

We have already explained in the answers to more than one question that it is haraam for a man to have a relationship with a non-mahram woman outside the framework of marriage. See the answer to question no. 23349 and 9465.

The haraam things that the people who have these relationships fall into include: betrayal, being alone with a non-mahram member of the opposite sex, touching and looking; these are the ways that lead to falling into the sin of zina (fornication, adultery). This is in addition to the harmful effects it has on the heart, causing confusion and distracting it from the purpose for which it was created.

You say that you still meet this girl, and the results of these meetings are obvious to anyone with common sense. You have to persist in your repentance from your former relationship with her, and cut off all ties with this girl.

The solution to such a problem is to marry this girl, thus foiling the Shaytaan and protecting yourself from falling into sin. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “We do not think there is anything better for two who love one another than marriage.” Narrated by Ibn Maajah, classed as saheeh by al-Albaani in Saheeh Ibn Maajah, 1847.

What this hadeeth means is that the greatest remedy for treating love is marriage, because this is the only cure for it. See Fayd al-Qadeer by al-Mannaawi, 295.

But you say that you cannot marry her, so you have no choice other than to be patient, strive to control your nafs (self), and keep yourself busy so that you will not think of her. Your marriage to someone else may be the means of your forgetting her, and you should avoid meeting her as much as you can.

You should know that the life of this world is very short, and the shortest thing in this life is haraam pleasure and the moments in which a person disobeys his Lord. But the joy of the Hereafter will last forever, so how can a smart person like you sacrifice that eternal joy for a moment of brief pleasure that will blacken the record of his deeds?

You should know that Allaah may decree death for you when you are alone with her, so how will you meet your Lord in such a state? What will you leave behind of shame and scandal for your family and for hers?

You should know that Allaah may punish you through your daughter or sister, because you were content to besmirch the honour of another, so you may expect the punishment of Allaah in this world rather than the Hereafter. Allaah protects the family and children of the righteous Muslim by means of his righteousness, but if a man is corrupt the only result can be is that his family and sons and daughters will be corrupt too. How can it be otherwise when he has set them the example by his own actions?

There is no way to forget about this girl except by filling your heart with the love of Allaah and fear of His punishment, and trying to keep the blessing of Allaah from being diminished because of this sin. Think about the consequences of this action whether in this world or in the Hereafter. Hasten to give up this sin and seek the reward for that with Allaah, so that you will then see – in sha Allaah – the blessings of faith, piety and delight in worship that your Lord will bestow upon you.

And Allaah is the Guide to the Straight Path.

What Attributes to look for in a Women

Praise be to Allaah.

Advice to marry the woman who is religiously committed – who is the one who is religiously committed?

(a)

The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) encouraged marrying women who are religiously committed, as he said: “Women may be married for four things: their wealth, their lineage, their beauty and their religious commitment. Choose the one who is religiously-committed, may your hands be rubbed with dust (i.e., may your prosper).” Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 5090; Muslim, 1466.

‘Abd al-‘Azeem Abaadi (may Allaah have mercy on him) said:

What this means is that a man who is religiously committed and of noble character should make religion his focus in all things, especially with regard to long-term matters. So the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) enjoined finding a wife who is religiously committed, which is the ultimate goal.

“may your hands be rubbed with dust” is urging him to strive hard and roll up his sleeves and seek that which is enjoined.

(b)

With regard to the attributes of religiously committed women, we may list many attributes which apply to women who are described as religiously committed. These include:

1. Sound belief

This is the most important attribute. The woman who is from ahl al-sunnah wa’l-jamaa’ah will have achieved the highest and most precious characteristic of religiously-committed women, and the one who is a follower of bid’ah (innovation) and misguidance will not be one of the religiously committed women whom the Muslim is encouraged to marry, because of the bad effect that she will have on the husband or children, or on both.

2. Obedience to her husband, and not going against him if he enjoins something that is right

It was narrated that Abu Hurayrah said: It was said to the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him): Which of women is best? He said: “The one who makes (her husband) happy when he looks at her, obeys him when he tells her to do something, and does not disobey him with regard to herself or her wealth in a way that he dislikes.”

Narrated by al-Nasaa’i (3131); classed as saheeh by al-Albaani in Saheeh al-Nasaa’i.
So the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) mentioned together three important characteristics to be found in the good, righteous wife. They are:

(i) When he looks at her, he is happy with her religious commitment,
attitude, behaviour and appearance.

(ii) When he is away from her, she protects his honour and his wealth.

(iii) If he tells her to do something, she obeys him, so long as he does not tell her to commit sin.

3. Helping her husband in his faith and religious commitment, telling him to do acts of obedience and stopping him from doing haraam things.

It was narrated that Thawbaan said: When there was revealed about silver and gold what was revealed, they said: So what kind of wealth should we acquire? ‘Umar said: I will find out about that for you. So he mounted his camel and caught up with the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) and I was right behind him. He said: O Messenger of Allaah, what kind of wealth should we acquire? He said: “Let one of you acquire a thankful heart, a tongue that remembers Allaah and a believing wife who will help him with regard to the Hereafter.”

Narrated and classed as hasan by al-Tirmidhi (3094). In another version it says: “who will help him with his faith.” Ibn Maajah (1856). Classed as saheeh by al-Albaani in Saheeh al-Tirmidhi.

Al-Mubaarakfoori (may Allaah have mercy on him) said:

“A believing wife who will help him with his faith” means, with his religious commitment, by reminding him to pray, fast and do other acts of worship, and will keep him from committing zina and all other haraam deeds.

Tuhfat al-Ahwadhi (8/390).

4. She should be a righteous woman, and among the attributes of the righteous woman is that she is obedient to her Lord and fulfils her husband’s rights with regard to his wealth and herself, even when her husband is absent.

Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning):

“Therefore the righteous women are devoutly obedient (to Allaah and to their husbands), and guard in the husband’s absence what Allaah orders them to guard (e.g. their chastity and their husband’s property)”[al-Nisa’ 4:34].

Shaykh ‘Abd al-Rahmaan al-Sa’di (may Allaah have mercy on him) said:

“Therefore the righteous women are devoutly obedient” means: obedient to Allaah, may He be exalted.

“guard in the husband’s absence” means: they are obedient to their husbands and even in their absence they guard themselves and their husband’s wealth, seeking the help of Allaah in that, because no one can do that by himself or herself, for the self is inclined towards evil, but the one who puts his trust in Allaah, He will suffice him and help him in his religious and worldly affairs.

Tafseer al-Sa’di (p. 177)

It was narrated that Sa’d ibn Abi Waqqaas said: The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “There are four things that are essential for happiness: a righteous wife, a spacious home, a good neighbour and a sound means of transportation. And there are four things that make one miserable: a bad neighbour, a bad wife, a small house and a bad means of transportation.”

Narrated by Ibn Hibbaan in al-Saheehah (1232); classed as saheeh by al-Albaani in al-Silsilah al-Saheehah (282) and Saheeh al-Targheeb (1914).

Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyah (may Allaah have mercy on him) said:

A righteous wife will be with her righteous husband for many years, and she is the one who is meant in the hadeeth in which the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “This world is temporary conveniences and the best of its comforts is a believing wife, who when you look at her she pleases you and if you tell her to do something she obeys you, and if you are away from her she protects you with regard to herself and your wealth.”

This is what the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) enjoined when the Muhaajiroon asked him which kind of wealth they should acquire, and he said: “Let one of you acquire a tongue that remembers Allaah, a thankful heart, and a believing wife who will help him with regard to the Hereafter.” Narrated by al-Tirmidhi from Saalim ibn Abi’l-Ja’d, from Thawbaan.

She may offer the love and compassion that Allaah speaks of in His Book, and the pain of separation may be harder for her than death in some cases, and harder than losing wealth or leaving one’s homeland, especially if one of them is fond of the other or they have children together who will be harmed by separation.

5. Good etiquette and knowledge

It was narrated that Abu Moosa al-Ash’ari said: The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “There are three who will be given a double reward: a man from among the people of the Book who believed in his Prophet, then lived to see the Prophet (S) and followed him and believed in him– he will have a double reward; and a slave who fulfils his duty towards Allaah and towards his master – he will have a double reward; and a man who had a slave woman whom he fed and fed her well, and taught her and taught her well, then he set her free and married her – he will have a double reward.”

Narrated by al-Bukhaari (97) and Muslim (154).

Al-Mubaarakfoori (may Allaah have mercy on him) said:

“and taught her” means he taught her good manners.

“and taught her well” means teaching in a kind manner.

Tuhfat al-Ahwadhi (4/218).

6. Doing acts of worship and obedience, and refraining from haraam things.

This is part of what being religiously committed means, that is mentioned in the saheeh hadeeth that we quoted at the beginning of our answer.

Al-Khateeb al-Sharbeeni al-Shaafa’i (may Allaah have mercy on him) said:

What is meant by religious commitment is acts of obedience and worship, and righteous deeds, and refraining from haraam things.

Mughni al-Muhtaaj (3/127).

The one who combines obedience to her Lord, doing the obligatory duties that are enjoined upon her, and avoiding the haraam things that she is forbidden to do, with obedience to her husband, has glad tidings from the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) that she will be highly honoured when she enters Paradise.

According to the hadeeth: “If a woman prays her five (daily prayers), fasts her month (Ramadaan), guards her chastity and obeys her husband, it will be said to her: Enter Paradise by whichever of the gates of Paradise you wish.” Narrated by Ahmad (1664) and others; classed as hasan by al-Albaani because of another report in Saheeh al-Targheeb, as stated by al-Arna’oot in Takhreej al-Musnad.

7. She is a devout worshipper and one who fasts

Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning):

“It may be if he divorced you (all) that his Lord will give him instead of you, wives better than you __ Muslims (who submit to Allaah), believers, obedient (to Allaah), turning to Allaah in repentance, worshipping Allaah sincerely, given to fasting or emigrants (for Allaah’s sake), previously married and virgins”[al-Tahreem 66:5]

al-Baghawi (may Allaah have mercy on him) said: “will give him instead of you, wives better than you Muslims” means who submit to Allaah and obey Him.

“believers” who believe in the Oneness of Allaah (Tawheed).

“obedient (to Allaah)” means obedient, or it was said: who offer supplication (du’aa’), or who pray.

“given to fasting or emigrants” those who fast often, or Zayd ibn Aslam said: women who migrated (for the sake of Allaah), or it was said, who go with him wherever he goes.

Tafseer al-Baghawi (8/168).

Thus it is known that “religious commitment” (deen) is a comprehensive word that includes different kinds of worship, obedience, characteristics and attitudes. It is essential to note that that which we have said of these qualities and deeds is not the same with all women, rather there are different degrees thereof, and that is well known. The more modest, knowledgeable and devoted to worship a woman is, the more desirable she is as a wife.

Whatever the case, the woman who is religiously committed is the one who will help a man to protect his own religious commitment, and help him with regard to his Hereafter; she will make him happy when he looks at her and she will protect him when he is absent, and she will raise his children well.

How to be Successful

Praise be to Allaah

Peace of mind, contentment, happiness and freedom from worries and anxiety… these are what everyone wants, and these are the ways in which people can have a good life and find complete happiness and joy. There are religious means of achieving that, and natural and practical means, but no one can combine all of them except the believers; although other people may achieve some of them, they will miss out on others.

There follows a summary of the means of achieving this aim for which everyone is striving. In some cases, those who achieve many of them will live a joyful life and a good life; in other cases, those who fail to achieve all of them will live a life of misery and hardship. And there are others which are in between, according to what the means he is able to attain. These means include the following:

1 – Faith and righteous deeds:

This is the greatest and most fundamental of means. Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning):

“Whoever works righteousness — whether male or female — while he (or she) is a true believer (of Islamic Monotheism) verily, to him We will give a good life (in this world with respect, contentment and lawful provision), and We shall pay them certainly a reward in proportion to the best of what they used to do (i.e. Paradise in the Hereafter)”

[al-Nahl 16:97]

Allaah tells us and promises us that whoever combines faith with righteous deeds will have a good life and a good reward in this world and in the Hereafter.

The reason for that is clear: those who believe in Allaah – with sincere faith that motivates them to do righteous deeds that change hearts and attitudes and guides them to the straight path in this world and the Hereafter – follow principles and guidelines by means of which they deal with everything that happens to them, be it the causes of happiness and excitement or the causes of anxiety, worry and grief.

They deal with the things that they like by accepting them and giving thanks for them, and using them in good ways. When they deal with them in this manner, that creates in them a sense of excitement and the hope that it will continue and that they will be rewarded for their gratitude, which is more important than the good things that happen to them. And they deal with bad things, worries and distress by resisting those that they can resist, alleviating those that they can alleviate, and bearing with goodly patience those that they cannot avoid. Thus as a result of the bad things they gain a lot of benefits, experience, strength, patience and hope of reward, which are more important and which diminish the hardships they have undergone and replace them with happiness and hope for the bounty and reward of Allaah. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) expressed this in a saheeh hadeeth in which he said: “How wonderful is the situation of the believer, for all his affairs are good. If something good happens to him, he gives thanks for it and that is good for him; if something bad happens to him, he bears it with patience, and that is good for him. This does not apply to anyone but the believer.” (Narrated by Muslim, no. 2999).

The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) told us that the believer is always gaining and the reward for his deeds is always multiplying, no matter what happens to him, good or bad.

2 – Being kind to people in word and deed, and all kinds of doing good.

This is one of the means of removing worry, distress and anxiety. By this means Allaah wards off worries and distress from righteous and immoral like, but the believer has the greater share of that, and is distinguished by the fact that his kindness to others stems from sincerity and the hope of reward, so Allaah makes it easy for him to be kind to others because of the hope that this will bring good things and ward off bad things, by means of his sincerity and hope of reward. Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning):

“There is no good in most of their secret talks save (in) him who orders Sadaqah (charity in Allaah’s Cause), or Ma‘roof (Islamic Monotheism and all the good and righteous deeds which Allaah has ordained), or conciliation between mankind; and he who does this, seeking the good Pleasure of Allaah, We shall give him a great reward”

[al-Nisa’ 4:114]

Part of that great reward is relief from worry, distress, troubles, etc.

3 – Another of the means of warding off anxiety that stems from nervous tension and being preoccupied with disturbing thoughts is to occupy oneself with good deeds or seeking beneficial knowledge

for that will distract one from dwelling on the matters that are causing anxiety. In this way a person may forget about the things that are making him worried and distressed, and he may become happy and more energetic. This is another means that believers and others have in common, but the believer is distinguished by his faith, sincerity and hope of reward when he occupies himself with that knowledge which he is learning or teaching, or with the good deeds that he is doing.

The work with which he occupies himself should be something that he likes and enjoys, for that is more likely to produce the desired results. And Allaah knows best.

4 – Another thing that may ward off worry and anxiety is focusing all one’s thoughts of the present day, and not worrying about the future or grieving about the past.

Hence the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) sought refuge with Allaah from worry and regret, from regret for things in the past which one cannot put right or change, and worry which may come because of fear for the future. So one should focus only on the present day, and focus one's efforts on getting things right today. For if a person is focused on that, this means that he will do things properly and forget about worry and regret. When the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said a du’aa’ or taught a du’aa’ to his ummah, as well as urging them to seek the help of Allaah and hope for His bounty, he was also urging them to strive to attain the thing they were praying for through their own efforts and to forget about the thing which they were praying would be warded off from them. Because du’aa’ (supplication) must be accompanied by action. So a person must strive to attain that which will benefit him in worldly and spiritual terms, and ask his Lord to make his efforts successful, and he should seek His help in that, as the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Strive for that which will benefit you and seek the help of Allaah, and do not be helpless. If anything (bad) happens to you, do not say, ‘If only I had done such-and-such, then such-and-such would have happened.’ Rather you should say, ‘Qaddara Allaah wa ma sha’a fa’ala (Allaah decrees, and what He wills He does),’ for (the words) ‘If only’ open the door to the Shaytaan.” (Narrated by Muslim). The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) connected the matter of striving to achieve good things with the matter of seeking the help of Allaah and not giving in to feelings of helplessness which are a harmful kind of laziness, and with the matter of accepting things in the past which are over and done with, and acknowledging that the will and decree of Allaah will inevitably come to pass. He described matters as being of two types:

1 – Matters which a person may strive to achieve or to achieve whatever he can of them, or to ward them off or alleviate them. In such cases a person must strive and make the effort, and also seek the help of Allaah

2 – Matters where such is not possible, so he must have peace of mind, accept them and submit to Allaah’s will.

Undoubtedly paying attention to this principle will bring happiness and relieve worry and distress.

5 – One of the greatest means of feeling content and relaxed and of acquiring peace of mind is to remember Allaah a great deal (dhikr).

That has a great effect in bringing contentment and peace of mind, and relieving worry and distress. Allaah says:

“verily, in the remembrance of Allaah do hearts find rest”

[al-Ra’d 13:28]

Remembering Allaah (dhikr) has a great effect in achieving this aim because it has a special influence and because of the hope that it brings of reward

6 – Another of the means of bringing happiness and relieving worry and distress is striving to eliminate the things that cause worry and to achieve the things that bring happiness.

That may be done by forgetting about bad things in the past which cannot be changed, and realizing that dwelling on them is a waste of time. So a person must strive to stop himself from thinking of that, and also strive to stop himself from feeling anxious about the future and the things that he may imagine of poverty, fear and other bad things that he thinks may happen to him in the future. He should realize that the future is something unknown, he cannot know what good or bad things are going to happen to him. That is in the hand of the Almighty, the Most Wise, and all that His slaves can do is to strive to attain the good things and to ward off the bad things. A person should realize that if he diverts his thoughts from worrying about his future and puts his trust in his Lord to take care of his situation, and puts his mind at rest concerning that, if he does that, then his heart will be at peace and his situation will improve and he will be relieved of worry and anxiety.

One of the most effective ways of dealing with worries about the future is to recite this du’aa’ which the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) used to recite:

“Allaahumma aslih li deeni alladhi huwa ‘ismatu amri, wa aslih li dunyaaya allati fiha ma’aashi, wa aslih li aakhirati allati ilayha ma’aadi, waj’al al-hayaata ziyaadatan li fi kulli khayr, wa’l-mawta raahatan li min kulli sharr (O Allaah, correct my religious commitment which is the foundation of my life, and correct my worldly affairs in which is my livelihood, and grant me good in the Hereafter to which is my return. Make my life a means of accumulating good, and make death a respite for me from all evil).” (Narrated by Muslim, 2720).

And he said, “Allaahumma rahmataka arju fa la takilni ila nafsi tarfata ‘aynin wa aslih li sha’ni kullahu, laa ilaaha illa anta (O Allaah, for Your mercy I hope, so do not abandon me to myself even for a moment. And correct all my affairs. There is no god but You).” (Narrated by Abu Dawood with a saheeh isnaad, no. 5090; classed as hasan by al-Albaani in Saheeh al-Kalim al-Tayyib, p. 49).

If a person utters these du’aa’s, which ask that his spiritual and worldly affairs may be set right or corrected, with proper presence of mind and sincerity of intention, whilst striving to achieve that, Allaah will grant him what he has prayed for, hoped for and striven for, and He will turn his worry into joy and happiness.

7 – If a person experiences anxiety and distress because of a disaster, then one of the most effective means of relieving himself of that is to think of the worst scenario to which that may lead, and try to accept that.

When he has done that, then he should try to alleviate it as much as possible. By means of this acceptance and these efforts, he will relieve himself of his worries and distress, and instead of worrying he will strive to bring about good things and to deal with whatever he can of the bad things. If he is faced with things that cause fear or the possibility of sickness or poverty, then he should deal with that by striving to make himself accept that, or something even worse, with contentment, because by making himself accept the worst-case scenario, he lessens the impact of the thing and makes it seem less terrible, especially if he occupies himself with efforts to ward it off as much as he can. Thus as well as striving to achieve something good which will distract him from his worries about calamity, he will also renew his strength to resist bad things, and put his trust and reliance in Allaah. Undoubtedly these matters are of great benefit in attaining happiness and peace of mind, as well as bringing the hope of reward in this world and in the Hereafter. This is something which is well known from the experience of many who have tried it.

8 – Steadfastness of heart and not being disturbed about the imaginary things that bad thoughts may bring to mind.

For when a person gives in to his imagination and lets his mind be disturbed by these thoughts, such as fear of disease and the like, or anger and confusion stirred up by some grievous matter, or the expectation of bad things and the loss of good things, that will fill him with worries, distress, mental and physical illness and nervous breakdowns, which will have a bad effect on him and which causes a great deal of harm, as many people have seen. But when a person depends on Allaah and puts his trust in Him, and does not give in to his imagination or let bad thoughts overwhelm him, and he relies on Allaah and has hope of His bounty, that wards off his worries and distress, and relieves him of a great deal of mental and physical sickness. It gives indescribable strength, comfort and happiness to the heart. How many hospitals are filled with the mentally sick victims of illusions and harmful imagination; how often have these things had an effect upon the hearts of many strong people, let alone the weak ones; how often have they led to foolishness and insanity.

It should be noted that your life will follow your train of thought. If your thoughts are of things that will bring you benefit in your spiritual or worldly affairs, then your life will be good and happy. Otherwise it will be the opposite.

The person who is safe from all of that is the one who is protected by Allaah and helped by Him to strive to achieve that which will benefit and strengthen the heart and ward off anxiety. Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning):

“And whosoever puts his trust in Allaah, then He will suffice him”

[al-Talaaq 65:3]

i.e., He will be sufficient for all that is worrying him in his spiritual and worldly affairs. The one who puts his trust in Allaah will have strength in his heart and will not be affected by anything he imagines or be disturbed by events, because he knows that these are the result of vulnerable human nature and of weakness and fear that have no basis. He also knows that Allaah has guaranteed complete sufficiency to those who put their trust in Him. So he trusts in Allaah and finds peace of mind in His promise, and thus his worry and anxiety are dispelled; hardship is turned to ease, sadness is turned to joy, fear is turned to peace. We ask Allaah to keep us safe and sound, and to bless us with strength and steadfastness of heart, and complete trust, for Allaah has guaranteed all good things to those who put their trust in Him, and has guaranteed to ward off all bad and harmful things from them.

If bad things happen or there is the fear of such, then you should count the many blessings that you are still enjoying, both spiritual and worldly, and compare them with the bad things that have happened, for when you compare them you will see the many blessings that you are enjoying, and this will make the bad things appear less serious.

We ask Allaah to keep us safe and sound from worries and to relieve us of distress and anxiety, for He is the All-Hearing, Ever-Responsive, and He is the Ever-Living, Eternal.

Dealing with the temptation of women

Praise be to Allaah.

Allaah has created man in a world of trials and tests, and He has made Paradise the abode of His friends and beloved ones, who preferred His pleasure over their own and preferred obedience to Him over their physical comfort. And He has made Hell the abode of those among His slaves who disobey Him and preferred their own whims and desires to the pleasure of their Lord. Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning):

“Such is the Paradise which We shall give as an inheritance to those of Our slaves who have been Al-Muttaqoon (the pious)”

[Maryam 19:63]

“But as for him who feared standing before his Lord, and restrained himself from impure evil desires and lusts.

Verily, Paradise will be his abode”

[al-Naaz’i’aat 79:40-41]

And He says concerning the people of Hell (interpretation of the meaning):

“Then, there has succeeded them a posterity who have given up As-Salaat (the prayers) [i.e. made their Salaat (prayers) to be lost, either by not offering them or by not offering them perfectly or by not offering them in their proper fixed times] and have followed lusts. So they will be thrown in Hell”
[Maryam 19:59]

And He says (interpretation of the meaning):
“That shall be their recompense, Hell; because they disbelieved and took My Ayaat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) and My Messengers by way of jest and mockery”

[al-Kahf 18:106]

“Then for him who transgressed all bounds, (in disbelief, oppression and evil deeds of disobedience to Allaah).

And preferred the life of this world (by following his evil desires and lusts),
Verily, his abode will be Hell-fire”

[al-Naazi’aat 79:37-39]

So the Muslim must strive to worship Allaah and keep away from that which angers Allaah, for Allaah will not cause the reward the one who does good to be lost:

“As for those who strive hard in Us (Our Cause), We will surely guide them to Our paths (i.e. Allaah’s religion — Islamic Monotheism). And verily, Allaah is with the Muhsinoon (good-doers)”

[al-‘Ankaboot 29:69 – interpretation of the meaning]

One of the fitnahs (temptations) with which we are tested is the fitnah of women, as the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “I have not left behind me any fitnah (temptation) more harmful to men than women.” There follow some of the methods by which we can avoid this temptation. We ask Allaah to set the affairs of the Muslims straight.

1 – Faith in Allaah.

Faith in Allaah and fear of Allaah provide a safety valve and protect a person against committing haraam actions and following his own whims and desires.

If the believer becomes aware that Allaah is always watching and if he ponders the meanings of His names and attributes, such as the All-Knowing, the All-Hearing, the All-Seeing, the Watchful, the Reckoner, the Preserver, the All-Encompassing, that will generate fear of Him in secret and in public, and will put a stop to disobedience towards Allaah, and will reduce the strength of desire that leads many people to commit haraam actions.

2 – Lowering the gaze and avoiding looking at haraam things

The gaze can generate bad thoughts in the heart, which then lead to ideas and then to desires, then to will and resolve, and then inevitably to doing haraam things. Think about the meaning of this verse which makes a connection between the first steps towards haraam and the end result. Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning):

“Tell the believing men to lower their gaze (from looking at forbidden things), and protect their private parts (from illegal sexual acts). That is purer for them. Verily, Allaah is All-Aware of what they do”

[al-Noor 24:30]

Ibn Katheer said: “This is a command from Allaah to His believing slaves, to lower their gaze and avoid looking at that which is forbidden to them so that they only look at that which they are permitted to look at. If it so happens that a person’s gaze accidentally falls upon something haraam, he should turn his gaze away from it quickly.

3 – Warding off evil thoughts

Bad thoughts pose a danger to the heart… If a person dwells on them and does not push them away, they will develop into an idea, then into will and resolve, then this will inevitably lead to haraam actions. Beware of dwelling on passing thoughts; rather what you must do is to ward them off and crowd them out with good thoughts.

The treatment, then, is to ward off these passing thoughts and keep yourself busy with beneficial thoughts.

4 – Marriage

It was narrated that ‘Abd-Allaah ibn Mas’ood said: The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said:

“O young men, whoever among you can afford it, let him get married, and whoever cannot, let him fast, for it will be a shield for him.” Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 5065.

5 – Fasting for those who cannot afford to get married

– because of the hadeeth quoted above, in which it says, “…and whoever cannot, let him fast, for it will be a shield for him.” Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 5065.

Al-Qurtubi said:

The less a person eats, the weaker his desire becomes, and the weaker his desire is, the less sins he commits.

6 – Keeping away from bad companions.

The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “A man will follow the way of his close friends, so let each one of you look at who he takes as a close friend.” Narrated by Abu Dawood, 8433; classed as hasan by al-Albaani in Saheeh Abi Dawood, 4046.

7 – Keeping away from places of temptation.

It is obvious that we are living in a society that is filled with temptation – media of all types, magazines, flirting in the marketplaces, satellite TV, the internet, etc… So you have to flee from all of these in order to keep your religious commitment sound.

8 – Do not make your houses graves.

Make your house a reminder of obedience, not of sin. If a room is connected to sin for example, that will make a person commit sin repeatedly, because every time he enters that room he will remember the sin and may be provoked to commit the sin again. So he should make his room and his house a reminder of obedience to Allaah, so when he enters he sees the Mus-haf which he reads, and he remembers praying qiyaam al-layl for Allaah, and the regular Sunnah prayers that he offers in this room. Doing a lot of acts of worship in your house will make a connection in your mind between the house and doing good deeds, so you will do more and will think less of sin, and the calls of desire will grow less.

9 – Trying to make the most of your time in worshipping and obeying Allaah.

Time is one of the great blessings that Allaah has bestowed upon His slaves, but there are many who are not making the most of it. It was narrated that Ibn ‘Abbaas (may Allaah be pleased with him) said: The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Two blessings which many people do not make the most of: good health and spare time.” Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 6412.

10 – Remembering the blessings of the Hereafter.

Particularly appropriate in this context is remembering al-hoor al-‘iyn and their attributes, whom Allaah has prepared for those who are patient and steadfast in avoiding sin. This can help the Muslim to look at these transient haraam pleasures which only lead to regret and loss.

We ask Allaah to help us to avoid temptation, both obvious and hidden. Praise be to Allaah the Lord of the Worlds.

Maturity

Nowadays, i seem to be different in whatever i'm doing. In fact the way i think has also take a big turn. Maybe perhaps because these all happen due to maturity.

Many always mistake that maturity is propotional with age but i totally diagree with that due to the fact that i have friends who are way more older than me and yet i still dare to say that the things they do and the way they think is exactly how my younger brother would do.

Although i'm 18, i believe that i have been through alot so much that it would be equivalent to what a 22 years old person would have been through. I don't know why this happen but maybe perhaps my life just move too fast.

At times it makes me wonder if this is a good or a bad thing. And at times when i look at people of around my age laughing at something i would used to consider funny, it just makes me left out.

On the other hand, people always turn to me when they are in need of help. It makes me wonder why i'm always the chosen one but still i simply love the satisfaction after helping anyone in need of help.

In a nutshell, having these changes might indeed be a great thing after all...

You're right John!

Yesterday, i had a long chat with my classmate; John. Basically he's 27 and way much more experience than me. Well, he did tell me about his life lessons and there was one that he shared with me which i learnt few minutes after he told me.

He told me that, never to like a girl or appreciate her more than it makes you dream of her often. Because when this happen, the girl will always not show you the same liking to you that you had for her.

I did experience it myself and in fact i experienced it twice in my life. For the first time, i didn't really get the lesson and made the same mistake again. You like the girl so much but sadly she doesn't show you the same amount of liking you have for her.

From now on, i promise myself that i ain't gonna be showing much appreciation to the girl that i like. Twice it happened, and it shall never happen again. In fact, i seriously am going to start FAKING. Something which has been preventing me from falling for a cunning trap called love.

School Reopen

School is starting soon in 1 week times which falls on the 16th of April. My GPA for the year 1 was horrific and therefore i have put myself in a situation where i need to set a target which may seems impossible to achieve. On the other hand i'm really confident in reaching that impossible target.

The main reason i really do need to get back in the game is because with the current GPA i'm getting, i'm in no chance able to apply for the SAF Scholarship. And looking at the list of my classmates, competition is going to be tough. So in a way i'm not being cocky but just want to be optimistic of the situation and i must say that i'm pretty sure i'm able to play dirty just to get good grades.

But whatever my target or whatever way i want to get hold of my good grades, i shall never neglect my Agama. Because without Allah swt, i'm nothing. Hope my muslim brothers and sisters out there also do not forget their real existence in this world. All the fun here is just an illusion.

People

Thanks very much to Mahathir and Idris for accompanying me to Vivo. And special thanks to Mahathir for treating me lunch and dessert. Vivo was large and we only managed to cover 1/3 of the shopping mall. The place was so big that we ended up walking in cirlces over and over again.

Also, thanks very much cik adik for the bear and the b'day card. I love it very much. The SDSC awards night event had just ended and now working on the Admiralty park grand opening. This event will be totally different and i must say this upcoming event is going to be more at ease comparing with the SDSC event.

My job at jurong point courts as a promoter was great. I like the place because there was actually a place for me to solat, and moreove the people there are kind of friendly. School is reopening soon so i got to work all the days i want and earn as much cash as possible.

Its Getting Better

Life now i can say is much more organized. At times you just have to give up some things and you can't have it all. I just resigned from 3 of my current jobs and now working as a Promoter. Yesterday, i watched this show called Ehwal Perdana and the forum was regarding teenage love.
What i learnt from the show is that at this stage in life love isn't something which you must carry along 100% in your life. It should be carried lightly around 30%. This is because the sweetness of love only comes much after marriage. So if you were to give it all for love before marriage then you won't taste the sweetness anymore.

Personally i do feel that as a teenager this isn't the time for love. But sometimes someone will come into your life even at this teenage stage. To me when this happens its just a test from Allah swt.

All in a Mess.

Nowadays, i'm really occupied with things like meeting due to the upcoming SSDC awards night. Moreover getting started with a new job and i'm unsure of the long hours and weeks i have to commit. Things will definitely get messy.

All these stuff that happen will definitely get me astray and concentrate on dunia. This is a test for me. I must be more discipline to put all these dunia things aside and never forget the dunia we're now living in is just temporary. Indeed there are many distractions that will get you astray when you're living in this dunia.

But InsyaAllah... if you remember him and perform tasks like solat, we will not be fooled by this dunia.

Army Recruitment Fair

Saturday was a long day. Had to leave home at 7am for the young sport leader seminar. Fortunately, some of the seminar was really of my interest and one in which was about sport events management. Definitely, i'm going to take a module that has got to do with event management.

Well, in the army now soldiers not only train for war but during peace they will have to organize and manage events. An example of a major event would be the army open house.

The whole seminar lasted till 1730hr. Immediately after that went to solat at a Masjid located at raffles place. It was indeed my first time going to the Masjid which was built underground, kind of surprised that there was a Masjid that is actually underground.

Following after my solat, rushed to Marina Square for the event i'm always looking forward to; Army Career Fair. During the fair itself, they displayed some weapons such as the M4 carbine and Mp5. However most of the gadgets that they displayed has got to do with the 3rd generations SAF transformation. All in all it was a great fair and brought back some amazing goodies.

Next after exhausting myself from the fair, we went to esplanade and took a long walk that ended us back to Raffles Place and finally arrived at Bugis to have dinner. We went back home by bus which took us hours to reach the interchange.

At the end, we reached cck at around 0030hr. And i got home at 0100hr.
The day was just fun, it wouldn't have been as fun without the cik adik. Thanks for the company! really appreciate it.

Wednesday

On Wednesday, had to go to Kallang for some SCDC meeting. The meeting wasn't of all that useful to me. So kinda wasted my time and fares going all the way to kallang. After the meeting, Ash, Shahirah and i went to Town. We planned to go to Borders but ended up in TakaShimaya and all thanks to the Shahirah and Ash; The Shopping Crazies.. haha

Holidays

The holidays just began and plan for this holidays will be the same like the rest of the other holidays.. Just work, work and more work. I have been thinking of taking car license after the holidays but after second thought, that isn't a good idea. The cost for taking the license i would estimate is 2k...

There are many things i could do with 2k... rather than spend it on just a license i could use it to support my transport expenses for 1 year. I guess my license shall hold on for awhile... maybe perhaps someday.

HOW IMPORTANT

Today, had science lesson which was incredibly amazing. We took the excel graphsheet and use it. What so amazing about that is the praises that we got from the faci. She said our group was great and progressing very well. But the truth is... we didn't really do much.

Well, life is unfair and indeed we are making use of that. Other groups are trying really hard to complete the worksheet and never even get a single compliment from the faci... but look at Us.. we didn't do anything yet we're going to score A for today. How unfair is that???

Also, went to friday preayers with Ash. Its been some time since i get to go with him and also yesterday i attended JIVE meeting. All in all, the meeting was great. We actually get CE points for attending the meeting.

Just some thing which i wonder... How important is it to be in a relationship? are there any benefits in being attached? was just wondering...

DECISION MAKING

Making decision sometimes can be the last thing people want to do. The fear of making the wrong decision will always haunt you when you have to make certain decisions. What i personally realized is that faking and decision making somehow can work hand in hand.

Lets take for example, Guy A has to decide whether he should get attached with Girl A or not. If he were to get attached, then he might upset other girls who love him too. But if he choose not to then it would upset Girl A. Decisions will and can affect others.

So how does faking actually work hand in hand with decision making? Easy, Before you put yourselve in a situation you have to make decision... you just fake the feelings you have over someone. Tell yourselve that you ain't got any feelings for any girls. Smile when you're telling this to yourselve. Trust me, it works. The smiling action is an essential one. Just like a sandwich, you need the bread to make a sandwich right... and in this case, the smile is the Bread...

I was somehow wondering, should a person lets say Guy A tell this person Girl B that he likes her? Personally i feel that its way better for Guy A to just keep it to himself and not tell Girl B about the hidden feelings he has towards her. Firstly, if Guy A were to do that... he don't have to face the possibility of the dirty little thing called rejection from Girl B.

CREATIVE THINKING

The main difference between a group of creative people and the non creative people is just the fact that the group of creative people keep telling themselve that they are creative. A book titled 'Thinker toys' had 379 pages just to convey the message to people that for you to be creative you simply have to tell youselve that you are creative. A simple but ingenious way of making yourselve think outside the box.

Honestly, i really don't know what to include in this blog. If i were to include in about my life, there's nothing much to it. Well, on Monday i'll be having school from 8am to 9pm. Tuesday, i'll be in school from 8am to 4pm then followed by work at 6pm till 12am.

And Wednesday, its kinda interesting... as usual sch from 8am till 4pm then i'm having my ig till 7pm. Straight after that, i got to rush home for Ngaji at 835pm which usually ends at 1130pm. My Thursday is the same as my Tuesday and my Friday is the same as my Monday. Weekends for me are spent on working at Toy 'R' Us.

Faking it

Faking is the best way to obtain something which seems impossible to achieve. When troubles and problems strike, faking has always been the best tool to absorb the hit.

And indeed faking is also a great way for you to control the uncontrollable feelings you have for someone. With faking, you can actually switch off your feelings and emotions. Its a great practice that i myself practice it whenever i meet new people.

Lesson on Friday was nothing of much interest but still it went smoothly. After sch, went to library and came across an amazing book titled, thinker toys. So, going to spend the weekends reading the book and analyze it.

Critical Thinking

Critical thinking seems to be an art. Another common term for this would be thinking 'outside the box'. Today cognitive process lesson was indeed interesting. It actually stretched my way of thinking and this enables me to think deeper and be much more open minded.

Today's class was Great! The faci was dressed wonderfully, classmates was fun as before and ut was manageable (thanks to shahirah who taught me to study).
Got a terrible headache at the end of class after thinking too much... but all in all the day was Amazing...

Its All about using the right PRINCIPLES and PHILOSPHIES

For the last few days, had been involving myself in a Silat Event. Gained lots of experience there and indeed it was nevertheless an invaluable one.

After doing lots of reading on Top Leader for the past weeks, i can confidently conclude that all of them follow a certain principles throughout their life. For example, President Dwight D. Eisenhower follow the principle of reverse psychology whereby he criticize ideas that he agreed upon and supported the ideas that he disagreed. All of them have their own principles and philosophies.

By learning and practicing all off them, this will surely enable you to be as successful as they were and are. Unfortunately, i'm not going to tell you the principles each leader used. Pay me if you wanna know.

Does blowing on hot soup really cool it down?

It appears blowing on your soup does have a valid scientific effect. According to this light-hearted transcript from a scientific radio show broadcast by Indiana University, it's caused by evaporation.

When you sit down to that steaming bowl of soup, the faster-moving, hotter particles "leap off the surface," evaporating and leaving the slower-moving, cooler particles behind. But these evaporated particles form a little cloud of vapor above your bowl, saturating the air and preventing any more evaporation. When you blow on your soup, you disperse the vapor cloud. How did they come up with the name for duct tape?

Early in the morning today went to the gym with Bala and Idris. We pretty much covered our upper body muscles such as lats and triceps. Following that, we went to West Mall because i wanted to look for books on Top world leaders such as Colin Powell and Hitler.

Didn't really managed to find the books that i wanted over there so had to make a visit to the Library located at Lot 1. There, i borrowed a book titled, 'John. F Kennedy on Leadersip'.

Its pretty weird... nowadays i'm somehow really interested in politics. Great isn't it... Well, people like Colin Powell and Kennedy were from the military before getting involved in politics and perhaps someday i can follow their footsteps.

On saturday, went to work at Toy 'R' us and coincidentally i met my secondary school english teacher. Talked to her little bit and she lied when she said she was fine because i was able to see deep inside her eyes, she needed lots of rest.

Well, i guess once in a while i do have to use the skills that i learnt on how to spot the little movement that people make when they lie.

Recently, i did research on Famous and Infamous leaders and discovered how they actually manageded to attract people to their ideas. Let's compare Hitler and Churchill...

Hitler
- To get people to believe that he had a superhuman aura - the aura described by the Greeks as 'charisma' - Hitler also used childish staring tricks, such as looking at the people he was talking to without blinking, and various other basic tricks. It seems that no one is born charismatic, but there are plenty of ways to acquire an aura if you want to.

Churchill
- Churchill, by contrast, spurned such affectations. He had no spin doctors, no speechwriters, no-one to warm up audiences before he spoke. He had his trademarks, it is true - few politicians have ever sported more. In the media, Churchill was designed to obtain name recognition from the people and this is mainly why people listen to his and follow his leadership.

Just another
day

Nothing much that happened today, although i did learn something new which i believe is going to help me when i have a career.
Well, woke up 0530 to solat and following that served the net to read up on the Charismatic Adolf Hitler. It was amazing that he was able to manipulate Stalin into signing a treaty with Germany.

At 0700, went down to fitness corner and did 5 sets of 7 reps of dips and pull ups. Soon after that, had my breakfast and went to sleep till 1300 where i got up for solat and went to sleep again.

1630 hrs, got up to solat followed by some research on General Colin Powell.

1745 hrs, went to work.

Got back home at 2400 hrs. Had my dinner, took a bath and followed by solat. After all that, tried to sleep but just couldn't and so i decided to go online and do somemore research on Famous and Infamous Military Strategists the world ever seen.

Lesson learnt : Never ever show people your weakness, even if you're new to an organization.

Why are traffic lights red, yellow, and green?

We can really only speculate as to why these colors were originally used in the industry. An About.com entry on color symbolism points out that different colors evoke different emotions in humans.

Red generally symbolizes danger or warning, making it a good choice for "stop."
Green is calming to us, probably because it is prolific in nature and a sign of health and abundance, so it might have lent itself to mean "go."
